Berlin (dpa) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday fired back at US president-elect Donald Trump's denunciation of her liberal stance on refugees and his dismissal of the NATO military alliance as "obsolete."
"I think we Europeans hold our destiny in our own hands," she said.
"We know what his position is," Merkel said in response to Trump slamming her refugee policy as a "catastrophic mistake."
"My position is also known," she added.
In an interview with Germany's Bild and the Times of London, Trump also threatened to impose a hefty tax on German carmakers for selling vehicles in the US market that were produced elsewhere and warned that other nations would follow Britain in leaving the European Union.
"We 27 members should stand together," Merkel told reporter in Berlin, arguing that Europe's economic strength and institutions would help it tackle tough problems such as terrorism.

If they refuse God, ultimately God will let an anti-God entity (in this case, the allah-worshiping Islam) come to ascendancy. Then once the misery resulting is thorough, God may come back and say “miss Me yet?”

Germany was doing so well with overcoming their WW2 past for the last 50+ years and now they have a problem that will NEVER go away. It will only get worse as time goes on. Donald Trump is 100% correct. It is catastrophic.

Think it may be time to relocate military bases in Germany, out of Germany. If they are going to hold their destiny in their hands, might as well let them fend for themselves and see how they do. Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s and let God sort the rest.

Well, that is true. I was thinking more broadly. There may be specific instances in which our interests match, but as a whole, Russia is still the evil empire.
