I think this is along the lines of the scale mail/padded armor you describe. And I heartily agree that it’s best not to be around when this stuff is happening.
It is interesting to note that when skinheads confronted the black bloc types in Sacramento in the summer of 2016 they came out way ahead, as 4 or 5 anarchists got stabbed. This is where it will head, where people are carrying prison shanks so that if they are tackled by a black bloc person, they can stab them and then drop the shank and skedaddle. The parallels to these riots and the riots you see in a prison yard are interesting.
I’d wager that skinheads are quite good at street riots which is why they have already developed tactics for it. Average people going to a trump rally are outclassed by seasoned fighters.
Also interesting is that a Milo protester got shot in Seattle a month or so ago and the shooter was not charged. So, it doesn’t always go the protester’s way.

I read the OFF, Oregon Firearms Federation, press release today; it was a bench trial because the jury pool was so bad.
This follows a pattern in most cities, lefties riot and not punished, non lefties will have the full force of the law on them. The only exception so far is Seattle; haven’t heard armed resistance punished yet.

Outrageous, but then again Multnomah voted 80% for the Harpy, 19% for Trump, so not surprising.
Make my armed resistance; self defense, armed resistance gives the wrong tone and idea.
