I just saw Kellyanne Conway on Fox and Friends. She wouldn’t flat-out state that Trump was bugged, but kept saying that’s why the President wants an investigation - to learn what the truth is. That’s different from what Trump said on Saturday. He stated, as a fact, that the Obama administration was tapping his phone. No ambiguity about it. Does this new “well, that’s what investigations are for... to learn the truth” line seem like back-tracking to anyone else? It would be a huge blow if Trump was wrong about something so incredibly important. And, if he is, could the RATS have set him up with some fake info, knowing he’d be likely to get angry and tweet it out to the world?

as kellyanne conway said in an interview, comey is not shy, he has not made any formal statement yet to the public, and the administration welcomes him to make a statement.

the possibilities are at least four:

1. the nyt is misrepresenting comey as saying something he did not say

2. comey did state (to the press, or to someone in private, and the press learned of it) the fbi knew nothing about the trump wiretaps

3. comey is lying

4. the trump wiretaps did not happen

edward klein (”guilty as sin”) in a fox interview stated that he was getting the impression from inside sources that (2) is correct. comey got pushback from the other intelligence agencies when trying to investigate hillary— specifically, the other agencies told him that another investigation was ongoing and that he could not interfere with that by investigating hillary to completion. this concerned comey (perhaps to put it mildly). now there is a war between intelligence agencies. the fbi in theory could investigate the nsa (or something like that) about these trump wiretap allegations/authorizations. transcripts of conversations were released to news agencies by hillary friendly agents within the intelligence community (implying non-fbi sources such as the nsa) (so if we are to believe this, the wiretaps did happen). apparently, a fisa court or courts did actually consider two requests, turning one down around june (perhaps shortly after the tarmac meeting) and approving a more narrowly tailored one (around the end of october). a major question is whether obama knew, since the end result was that trump got tapped. various folks make the case that it was highly (extremely) unusual for a request to be resubmitted to fisa which concerned an election candidate shortly before the election itself. due to the need for correspondingly high care and handling of the request, so the thinking goes, either obama or valerie jarrett had to have known about it.

(i am reminded by this of the cell phone tapping of republicans around 15 years ago by democrats. i believe no one was ever convicted although it was either improper or illegal. this business of tapping seems like a recurring epidemic that seems distinctly linked to the volition of democrats to sponsor it.)

Is it possible that Obama and his staff...were undermined by Lynch (in support of Hillary and the expected 2016 ‘win’)?

I could see Obama being so clue-less that he doesn’t realize what was going on and waking up now to realize all these Russia stories from within the Justice Department....were creations of a Hillary-Lynch gimmick.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

so obammy can deny culpability based on plausible ignorantablity

Why give him the benefit of the doubt when they don’t give it to anyone else? If the AG ordered it he told her to.

Lynch has almost a 12-year relationship to the Clintons. More than to Obama.

Then you have the fact that she has virtually said nothing since this story started up. Obama....at least one statement disassociating himself from it. If she remains quiet for the rest of this week, then I think it’s a Lynch-only situation.

I cannot keep up with all of theories. This is now as clear as mud.

My only advice for Trump...do NOT let Sessions anywhere near a camera and microphone. This guy is not helping Trump.

:: and that it was conducted at the behest of the attorney general ::

(1) AG is a member of the EXECUTIVE BRANCH
(2) The AG acted unilaterally (not involving the “boss”) to obtain a tap?

REALLY?

IMO, “The Tarmac Meeting” was not about treating Hillary’s transgressions lightly (AKA, unintentional) but more about squaring up the ‘government feed’ regarding Russian interference.

That “Benghazi was caused by a film” excused was not well prepared.
BillyJeff went beyond Yates on the tarmac “just to make sure”.

Lynch or/and Comey will take the fall for Obamugabe, ssaying that they acted unilaterally. Welcome to the United States of Chicago.

Google “Chicago Truck Scandal” and “Torrez”.

He’s ‘picking the battle’. He has promised his constituency certain things during his campaign and his, at this time, overseeing those promises to assure they are fulfilled.

Meanwhile, he has a bunch of gnats biting at his ankles trying to distract him. To continue the analogy, most folks rest on the lanai with a Margarita but...we still squash the mosquitoes and gnats.

or both.

or a variant of both in which obama’s lieutenants are found culpable, and obama is self-branded as a political cuck.

I agree. Say what you want about Obama, but he's no dummy. The spying operation went forward with his full approval and support. At the same time, he made sure he has provided himself with a means for "plausible deniability" should things go wrong. He will tell everyone how "shocked and saddened" he was to learn about Loretta Lynch's involvement in this episode.

Too bad he didn’t read his daily intelligence report instead of the Sports Page....

And as my Mom used to say “actions speak louder than words”- so by working so hard to update the order in his last week or so in office, that action speaks volumes.

With all of the evil trying to bring Trump down as he ran for office, I am convinced it was prayer that made the difference for ‘the win’.

Now I know the meaning of “prayer warriors”!

but incorrect in accusing former President Barack Obama of ordering the wiretapping.

Sorry, the buck stops at the Oval Office.

He’s the master of appearing this way. He received intel briefings and most likely authorized all of it.

Good point. Was this fake dossier planned in advance? By using this this fake dossier as a reason to spy, this may very well be an incredible scheme to undermine a candidate.

Also, who exactly are the Russians that were forced to leave the country. I’m starting to wonder what that was all about as well.

someone on foxnews made the point that obama was a hands-off president who preferred to spend time at the golf course instead of paying attention to the everyday workings of federal government. in such a climate, at least so that theory goes, hillary supporters could have compartmentalized the wiretapping such that obama did not know it was happening. the stakes were so large that that should not have happened in practice, of course, but also one has to take into account that they did not seem to anticipate the possibility that they might lose the election, and so may have believed that the end justified the means to the extent that they believed it was ok to try to gather incriminating information against trump, the end justified the means, and any leftover legal fine points could be dealt with by sweeping them under the carpet after the widely anticipated (in the obama administration) hillary win of the election.
