Public Opinion: The reaction to the latest IBD/TIPP poll showing President Trump's approval ratings taking a big hit has been, well, depressing. Liberals are shamelessly cheering it on while some Trump backers are blaming the poll. Both responses are misguided.
The poll shows that only 34% approve of the job Trump is doing, which is a low not seen since the last months of the Bush presidency, when the financial crisis was in full swing.
Clearly, the left's total war against Trump has taken its toll. Every day it is wall-to-wall attacks in news, entertainment, academia and every other corner of daily life. Rather than argue and debate Trump's policies about which the public is largely in agreement they've resorted to their favorite weapon: the politics of personal destruction.
So, congratulations, Trump haters. You've managed to drive down his numbers before he's had a chance to actually get much done.

Good analogy!
Obama’s poll numbers were inflated for 8 years. Every time they hit a new all time low it was “39%” or above. The number wouldn’t/couldn’t get below that point so they’d jockey the results using oversampled Democrats.
I agree, not to mention a siege mentality where stinky dead things in the form of tweets are being tossed over the castle walls.
When you tell your base that voted for you you are his problem in getting his healthcare bill passed when they do not want government in their lives....you lose the base...duh.
From the article: “This is not to say that Trump hasn’t contributed to his own poor ratings with his ill-conceived tweets, newbie administration mistakes, and a seeming lack of focus on the issues that got him elected.”

It is an obsession. In almost every instance, anything positive that is said about President Trump and his Administration has to include a hit remark. It has become a necessary part of any report on the President. It is now the cheque requisite to reporting on anything relating to the President. Writers and commentators are remiss if they leave it out. President Trump’s curse is that he is not a politician and does not fit the Washington Establishment political mindset. Thank God he has a stiff spine and a boundless determination to get the job done.
The average is pulled down by the 0% of Trump hating Democrats. He is doing fine among those who voted for him. As his policies bear fruit, there will be further improvement among Independents. Most sane people are ignoring the unhinged Democrat media, whose polls all showed Hillary handily winning the election. They have no credibility.
Do you think that the Gorsuch filibuster and the death of the repeal of Obamacare (which wasn't) might have something to do with it? Trump has had a tremendous number of "wins" but you'd never know about that listening to the MSM.
So, the chilren don’t like a stern parent.
Too bad.
If you believe in political polls...please contact me immediately....I have a bridge in Brooklyn, NYC that I want sell to your, not-too-bright-butt!!! End of Story!!!
I skimmed the article and didn’t see either of these addressed:
1. What was the exact verbiage of the questions(s) — were they push polls?
2. What was the breakdown of those sampled — percentage of Democrats and percentage of Republicans? They tend to oversample Democrats in most Trump-negative polls, and by many percentage points.
IBD editorial writer and his fake blog is a publishing arm for the GOP-Establishment RINOs and #nevertrumpers - i.e. YEB! and his traitors.
That’s my reading too. IBD was a rabid Trump-hating machine throughout the primaries, and the hating continues with fake news and fake polls. The IBD scribblers are GOPe fascist cranks.
I voted for him to put conservatives on the Supreme court. Done.
To lower taxes. Hopefully by the end of the year.
To protect the border. The illegal flow is already abating.
If he does anything more it’s a bonus. I wasn’t expecting miracles.
I don’t care what his popularity rating is until the fall of 2020.
That’s a great point but I’m not sure they really admitted anything. There was a lot of “yeah, but...” and finger pointing, but we know what they did wrong:
1. Over sampled democrats in the adjusted numbers*.
2. Under sampled Republicans in the adjusted numbers.
3. Used leading questions to get the answers they wanted to hear.
Totally BS and missed the anti-establishment wave hitting the American electorate. But yeah, conventional wisdom was Hillary would win, because, well, Trump. Some fell for it, but MOST pollsters PUSHED Clinton. They know damn well they did, but they’ll NEVER admit it.
*Say if they called 1,000 people, and 300 were dems, 300 were GOP and 400 were independents, they’d change it to 39% dem, 31% GOP and 30% independent because that’s what the 2012 election came in as.
Show me your internals.
What’s the D/R/I weighting.
Without that, the poll is pure crap.
I don’t see the stock market being where its at if this were true.
After this last election cycle, does anyone still give any credibility to “polls”?????
Who cares about the polls 4 yrs before the next election when they were all wrong 4 days before the last one?
Get jobs back into the US, grow the economy, get some sanity back to the SCOTUS, reduce taxes, cut regulation, reduce illegal immigration...and the polls will take care of themselves four years from now.
The latest IBD/TIPP poll was taken from March 24-30, and includes responses from 904 people across the country, giving it a margin of error of +/-3.3 percentage points. The national sample of adults had 34% Democrats, 30% Republicans and 36% Independents.
The D/R split is better than I've seen recently, but it's still a poll of "adults," and not "registered" or "likely" voters.

The ONE thing the media can still do, is generate fake news and fake polls. Then they use the fake polls to attack Trump, what else do they do.
Remember these same fools were still saying he had a 17% chance of winning on November 8.
They. Have. ZERO. Credibility.
