Dershowitz: Kushner Meeting Russians, Even Politically Coordinating With Russians "Just Not A Crime"
realclearpolitics.com ^ | May 26, 2017

Posted on 05/26/2017 6:06:09 PM PDT by Helicondelta

In an MSNBC segment hosted by Stephanie Ruhle, legal expert Alan Dershowitz responds to breaking reports that President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner's contacts with Russians are being investigated. Dershowitz explained how even the worst of the worst things the Trump team is being accused of doing vis-a-vis Russia aren't against the law. "Just simply not crimes," he said.

ALAN DERSHOWITZ: Let's assume the worst case scenario.

Let's assume the worst case scenario.

Let's assume there was a quid-pro-quo.

Let's assume that the Trump campaign promised: 'If you help us get elected, we'll drop the sanctions.'

How is that different from what President Reagan did with Iran?

President Reagan, the campaign, promised Iran that there would be some quid-pro-quo if Iran didn't hold back and release the hostages after the inauguration of President Reagan.

So, when we start to criminalize things we don't like -- in the absence of federal criminal statue, and I still want to know: Where's the beef?

What is the statue?

None of these things seems to me to constitute violations of federal criminal law.

No, but Obama had plenty of such “deals”.

He told the Iranians to hold off until he was president, he would get them a better deal, for example.

Well.. if they go after Kushner, they then have to go after Hillary’s uranium deal with the Russians.
Reid’s solar plant deal with the Chinese..

“Reagan had no such deal with Iran.”

We’ll never know. But it’s well established that Reagan’s chief of staff (Casey) met with representatives of the Iranian government multiple times in Madrid and Paris in 1980 (before the election).

The Russian conspiracy is a replay of the Iranian conspiracy of the Reagan years. The libtards are too stupid to come up with something new.

How is any pf this relevant to “colluding with the Russians to influence the election”. These meetings took place in December AFTER the elections. It seems to me they wanted the secure communications because they probably suspected then that Obama was listening to their conversations

Even if Kushner did, some on the other thread in “Breaking New” should have figured it out by now, but they go around and around.

“What the hell is he talking about? Reagan had no such deal with Iran.”

What makes you certain? If he did Dersh says it is okay, legal.

I would hope my top elected and appointed people would be negotiating, making good deals, keeping secrets, etc.

It should be painfully clear the permanent establishment, entrenched bureaucrats prefer to run the government, and to even prevent elected Presidents from doing so.

This is about preventing Trump from doing his job, his way.

Dershowitz is consistent and even-handed in his beliefs and unlike most liberals he is not a hypocrite. Although he is much farther to the left of many of my views, he is one liberal I can respect.

Reagan’s public persona was to talk tough on USSR and, obliquely, Iran. He had to be VERY careful in what he said, but it was clear to everyone that Reagan meant business with Iran.

If Casey met and wanted to cut a deal, that would have been a sign of weakness. They could have humiliated Reagan had he tried to have a deal in place.

EVERYTHING points to the meetings with the Iranians being “It will be best if you release them immediately. Delay for you will be bad.”

- the all new McDemocrat Nothing Burger

Dateline Free Republic: 05/26/2017

This last year the McDemocrats were proud to add the all new Nothing Burger to their menu nation-wide.

Home to the Fallen Arches, McDemocrats now offers up a sesame seed bun, no lettuce, no sause, no cheese, no meat..., in fact nothing else unHappy Meal.

Each nothing burger comes without fries, a drink, or napkins. You can get it in a bag to go, but you'll have to ask nicely and prove you were stupid enough to register as a McDemocrat to get it. (If you are not registered, and have a dead relative, you can get one by just mentioning their last registered address.>

When buying this Unhappy Meal for children, please tell the cashier in advance, so she can explain why you won't get action figures or coloring materials for the children.

It's called the all new Nothing burger. There's essentially nothing to it. Wrap it in some plain wrap newspaper and it will remain room temperature for hours.

Toss it in the fridge and you'll still get that first day fresh feel when you eat it. You'll be just as disgusted on day 13 as you would have been on day one.

The McDemocrat corporation has a lot riding on this. They'll trying to sell it to Americans first, and if all goes well, Russians may see it in their nation later this year.

Check out the Nothing Burger promotions on you local and national MSM outlets hourly.
