The great thing about the US is that there is a solution for that. They can hold marches around the country condemning “extremist Islamic” treatment of women and gays. And condemning ISIS and terrorism. And condemning islamic leaders who support sharia or isis or mistreatment of gays and women. In fact, I bet they’d be allowed to join these marches to let the public see that they support American values and not Islamic “extremist” values.
If Muslims around the country are constantly and vocally condemning the “extremist” Islamic views, the public will not develop a “distorted and prejudiced view of the religion.” People can accuse them of lying (and they may be) but joining the discussion and condemning anti-American values would be the American way to improve the public view of their religion.

Citing the allegiance to our constitution vs the superiority of adhering to the Sharia Islamic code will mean nothing to these people .
Any presentation against the assertions made by the followers of Islam MUST be made on a religious level. These are people who actually truly believe they have been authorized by God and that by following and enforcing the Shari code they will be rewarded by God. That core belief must be questioned and its followers reminded why that double talking god code as part of a creed makes a mockery of Our Monotheistic Creator and is blasphemous.

Oklahoma has been battling this issue since early in the Obama days. We passed a state Constitutional Question which was denied by federal court black robes, and I am not certain of the current status.
Several other states have passed similar laws, but I am not certain of their current status either. Here is an older article naming some of those states who have made the effort.

There’s a huge difference between publicly stating you wont call for sharia and not resisting those that do. Instead, just ask them what should be the punishment for homosexuality, or leaving Islam, or adultery, etc...you’ll get clarity.
