Worries Grow About Trump's Travel Ban [Media Bias]
Danbury News Times (Hearst) ^ | July 1, 2017 | MacKensie Rigg

The Trump administration’s implementation of the so-called travel ban could prevent scores of refugees from coming to Connecticut as planned, although they have been fully vetted and await only a date to resettle in the country, advocates said late last week.

Local Muslims, meanwhile, worried that last week’s Supreme Court decision partly approving the 90-day travel ban for visitors from six mostly Muslim countries, and Trump’s restrictive refugee policies, will increase anti-Muslim sentiment in the country.

Zarina Mohamed, a Bethel resident born in Yemen, one of the six designated countries, never thought the ban would be reinstated after two federal appeals courts blocked it.

“I always thought that America was a free country, and that everyone’s rights would be protected, but the travel ban is restricting one specific group, regardless of who the people actually are,” said Mohamed, a U.S. citizen. “It’s saying that Yemen is a country to be afraid of, which means that Yemeni people should be feared.

“I find that very wrong, because it puts us in a category and separates us from everyone else,” Mohamed said.

The Supreme Court partly lifted the lower-court injunctions against Trump’s executive order that had temporarily banned visas for all refugees and for citizens of Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Iran and Yemen. The justices’ ruling exempted visa applicants and refugees from the ban if they could prove a “bona fide relationship” with a U.S. person or “entity.”

Call me a racist or whatever, but we don’t need one more Effing Muslim in this country. Trump was again spot on last night in his call for immigrants who want to come here and love this country. Every last Muslim in the world does NOT fit that description. Whether they are jihadists or not, they all read the same F*cking book.

With Bammy’s admin, they asked them “Are you a terrorist?” If they said no they were “vetted” but that didn’t work in San Bernardino did it?

I also remember Bammy said it went against privacy laws to look at what the refugees say on the net. From what I hear now Trump is demanding it.

Importing the poison of Islam is the wrong thing to do.

The goal of Islam has been world domination for 1395 years by any means necessary.

It’s commanded of them in their “holy” book.

The jihad only ends if there are only muslims or no muslims.

In 2016, the Secretary of Homeland Security designated Libya, Somalia, and Yemen as additional countries of concern for travel purposes

"....will increase anti-Muslim sentiment in the country. "

There's already enough anti-Christian sentiment to go around. The MSM doesn't seem to worried about it though.

[Now they are “refugees,” and they are pretty much the same as legal immigrants who have “rights.”]

Isn’t there sentiment “refugees” should return to their homeland once the crisis is over?

We need to PAY - WITH COLD HARD CASH - the people who help the CIA - NOT GIVE THEM CITIZENSHIP.

With all the billions we throw down the CIA rat hole they damn sure should be able to PAY THE PEOPLE THEY HIRE. AND NOT WITH GIVING THEM SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM... CITIZENSHIP.

THE CIA HAS NO RIGHT TO GIVE AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP TO ANYONE.

Sure hasn't worked that way for Somali's. They just moved Mogadishu to Minn.

If Zarina Mohamed is truly a US citizen, then he clearly displays gross ignorance of important concepts such as the law, citizenship, the meaning of 'rights', "the rule of law", the reason why the preliminary injunction was mostly overturned, and much, much more.

I know some recent legal immigrants to the US who are nowhere near as ignorant as the ignoramus Zarina Mohamed.

Were they worried when Obama originally instituted the exact same ban?

You would think that the affected people would want to look into what it will take to have their countries removed from the travel ban. What do they need to do to adequately vet immigrants? How can they help their country better vet their people?

How do countries not on the banned list work with the USA to vet their people?

What constitutes acceptable vetting? Many Muslim countries already have good vetting procedures.

Or, are they just Democrats playing the blame game?

Do they know why the Obama administration had a travel ban on their countries?

Do they know where anti-Muslim sentiment comes from? Do they think that the terrorist attacks by Muslims have something to do with that negative sentiment? Or not?
