Worries Grow About Trump's Travel Ban [Media Bias]
Danbury News Times (Hearst) ^ | July 1, 2017 | MacKensie Rigg

The Trump administration’s implementation of the so-called travel ban could prevent scores of refugees from coming to Connecticut as planned, although they have been fully vetted and await only a date to resettle in the country, advocates said late last week.

Local Muslims, meanwhile, worried that last week’s Supreme Court decision partly approving the 90-day travel ban for visitors from six mostly Muslim countries, and Trump’s restrictive refugee policies, will increase anti-Muslim sentiment in the country.

Zarina Mohamed, a Bethel resident born in Yemen, one of the six designated countries, never thought the ban would be reinstated after two federal appeals courts blocked it.

“I always thought that America was a free country, and that everyone’s rights would be protected, but the travel ban is restricting one specific group, regardless of who the people actually are,” said Mohamed, a U.S. citizen. “It’s saying that Yemen is a country to be afraid of, which means that Yemeni people should be feared.

“I find that very wrong, because it puts us in a category and separates us from everyone else,” Mohamed said.

The Supreme Court partly lifted the lower-court injunctions against Trump’s executive order that had temporarily banned visas for all refugees and for citizens of Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Iran and Yemen. The justices’ ruling exempted visa applicants and refugees from the ban if they could prove a “bona fide relationship” with a U.S. person or “entity.”

Now they are "refugees," and they are pretty much the same as legal immigrants who have "rights." The guy from Syria mentioned in this slanted, half-baked article, bitching about "rights."

Why are you here instead of in Syria? You are a US Citizen, but why? Go back to Syria and live there. Otherwise STFU.

they have been fully vetted

The whole point of the ban is to provide time to develop BETTER vetting procedures. Being "fully vetted" under current regulations may not mean much.

Worry appears to be inversely proportional to common sense.

Shove it, journalists, we know who you are.

And we know how stupid you are.

And they think we're stupid. "Refugees" or "Immigrants" or whatever today's euphemism for illegal alien is HAVE NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS IN THE US.

This article is a great example of trying to muddy the waters on the status of these "refugees."

Worries? There were more worries without the halt. Muzzies streaming into the country gives a lot of reasons to worry. Keep them out and we sleep peacefully.

I’m impressed. A liberal reporter was able to break free of Trump’s spell. Is this reporter immune to all twitter curses? Or just sane enough to remember that a journalist’s job is to report on issues and not go bat-*$%@ crazy and forget reality when they see a tweet they don’t like.

Trump’s plan to keep libs from ruining 4th of July BBQs across the country is still holding up pretty well, but this reporter will likely spur a few liberal relatives and neighbors to lie about issues rather than rant about tweets at a get-togethers on the 4th.

The only thing worrisome is that way too many of them are here already, thanks to every President from GHWB through Hussein Obama.

No, it's the beheadings and bombings that increase anti-Muslim sentiment in the country. Maybe local Muslims could speak out against those?

“I always thought that America was a free country, and that everyone’s rights would be protected, but the travel ban is restricting one specific group

Well, you're an ignoramus, Zarina - nonresident noncitizens have no right to enter.
