Alfred Hitchcock is more than just the master of suspense.
Throughout his career, the legendary director transformed cinema as we know it today through his unique visual eye, masterful storytelling, and incredible showmanship.
In celebration of his birthday on Sunday, we look back on his most memorable works -- ranging from the crowd-pleasing "Psycho" to a movie regarded as one of the best ever made, "Vertigo."
Here are the 13 Alfred Hitchcock movies you need to watch in your lifetime:

Saw 7 of them. Psyco-too scary. Rear Window and Vertigo were my favorites.
I have seen them all. Some of them truly put me to sleep.
The best 3 in my opinion are North by Northwest (arguably precursor of 007), To Catch a Thief (great scenery & costumes and suspense) and Rear Window (hair raising suspense). The man who knew too much was good also, but not in your list?
My all time favorite movie is Day of the Jackal.
The Birds was (IMHO) kind of boring.
“Dial M for Murder” (1954) is a classic. The high point of Ray Milland’s career.
Saw “North by Northwest” in the theater as a boy when it first came out, great movie, and “The Birds” too a few years later, very scary.
I saw “Psycho” the week that it was released.
I was married about a month later and we were staying at a motel in VA.
We were having car trouble so one morning my husband left to get the car taken care of and I went in to take a shower.
I damned near died of fright as soon as the water hit me. :-)

We watched the birds as kids and it was terrifying. Years later we took a family trip to Bodega Bay to see movie history stuff, but most of the scenes from the movie were shot from temporary props.
I think “Rear Window” is his best and also love “The Birds”. I’d delete “Vertigo” and “Rope” from a list of his best and add “Lifeboat” and “The 39 Steps”.
I know that feeling exactly. My wife and her friend and I needed a hotel in a small town in Wisconsin. It was snowy roads and we arrived late at the B&B and planned to go down-hill skiing next day.
We rang the bell, and after waiting at the front door for what seemed like a long time, this man opens the door, and it was all dark in the house. Psycho immediately crossed my mind! But it was all good!

His film on Hitler’s death camps isn’t there.
I'd rather watch Marnie or The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956 version) than Dial M for Murder or Shadow of a Doubt.
Of the 13 Notorious is my fave , although I wasn’t a fan of Cary Grant’s acting in that movie .
My standard for a four star movie is whether I would watch it more than once. I can safely say that I have watched every one of Hitch’s movies many times and still enjoy the experience. North by Northwest is my favorite especially with Bernard Hermann’s score.
Rebecca is one of my all-time favorite movies and one of Hitchcock’s Top 3 IMHO.
I only want to watch a Hitchcock movie that has a blonde women in it.
