Republicans have not convinced many everyday Americans of the rightness of our cause.

No. You have fought the American tooth and nail to avoid the rightness of our cause while you pursue the interests of the K-street clowns to whom you sold our country down the river.

How long does it take for people to wake up and see the republican and democrat party are one and the same? Their actions speak louder than their words.

How about getting 100% behind our President for starters? This ain’t rocket surgery even for idiot GOP politicians.

Rep. Lamar Smith: It's time for the GOP to go on the offensive, ignore the liberal media, and speak directly to the American people

Actions speak louder than words. So don't talk, do.

Who cares what the GOP says...if a number of them are going to do the opposite of what they say when they get back to Washington?

“... ignore the liberal media, and speak directly to the American people”

As in what Trump is trying to do. Sounds GREAT, on paper, except how does the rest of the Republican Party respond when Trump does that? They immediately SIDE WITH THE MEDIA.

Good luck Lamar with that bunch, you certainly need it.

Republicans have not convinced many everyday Americans of the rightness of our cause.

No, President Trump did that. When it came to "your cause" your failure to act convinced us that you were simply feckless, do-nothing, lying-weasels.

So we need to do something different to get our message directly to the American people

Yeah, start passing the legislation that the President asked for. ( Messaging? Twitter seems to work pretty well.)

and explain how the policies we advocate will benefit them.

Ska-rew that!

Get behind the Trump Agenda and tell them: "Whatever the President wants....he will get."

That! Is your damn agenda.

Now GET TO WORK!

They have been offending me since their egregious power grab with the patriot act. We still have no wall, Obamacare and a proposal to tax and spend a trillion dollar stimulus..
Trump is afraid of his veto pen.. or worse, he is just his what his record says he is.
Congress offends me, they have not done their job.
Where do we turn? Away from politics, To God, lest we become Europe, or even worse, have the left stage a civil war, i.e. Genocidal ethnic cleansing of Christians.
Artifa and the neo nazi groups, they both fight for less freedom. Paid protestitutes of the left.

Is this turd up for reelection? None of these observations are breaking new ground - if he doesn’t know about this now or hasn’t been acting accordingly throughout his career, he’ll never be effective from a conservative perspective.

t to get our message directly to the American people and explain how the policies we advocate will benefit them.

What policies is he talking about" Who is he referring to with "our?" Republicans? I know nothing about Lamar Smith. If he is one of the usual Congressional Republicans then he is calling for Republican efforts against the President to be better known.

I just called Smith’s DC office (Phone: 202-225-4236) and told him of my support for this op-ed. I urged him to get that weasel Paul Ryan on board the Trump Train & get behind #MAGA.

I live in CA, but I called anyway. I would urge others to call & voice their opinion.

We’ve been trying to get the party to do that for years. They ain’t listening and have discovered that it’s far easier to capitulate than fight and join their “friends” on the other side of the nonexistent aisle for drinks at the Monacle or Capitol Hill Club and talk about how stupid we are for believing their campaign “promises”.

If I remember right, Lamar Smith is just another RHINO who talks a good game but lacks the action to accomplish it. I.E., he is just like the rest of Congress Repubs who promise and promise, but those promises mean nothing as they think they really work for the Chamber and K Street and those promises are to fool the rubes into reelecting them..

Lamar Smith is my rep. My only wish is that he would put action behind his words. He is a good guy, just quiet as I’ve noticed! At one time he would have headed the House Judiciary Committee as the next in line. But under Boehner, he was demoted to the head of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Demotion because House Judiciary committee has much more influence than the Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
