With the horrific shooting that recently took place in Las Vegas, debates over gun control have been given center stage in our media and politics once again.
And while every pundit seems to have their own surefire way of combatting gun violence, they all gloss over the elephant in the room.
Which is, although mass shootings have taken on a repulsive popularity recently, the gun violence surrounding the War on Drugs has created more casualties than every mass shooting in the US combined.
And despite the fact that these commentators tirelessly argue the merits and faults of one anothers ideas, one thing is certain; we can and should end the Drug War, immediately.
Drug trafficking brings in as much as $750 billion in the US each year. Much of that money goes to gangs which have immersed themselves from start to finish in creating, smuggling, and selling drugs throughout the country. If you purchase drugs in any major city in the US, chances are, they have passed through a gang at some point. Combine this with gangs inability to resolve disputes through the courts and other non-violent means, and it becomes obvious why gangs, gun violence, and drug culture are so entwined.

We need to escalate the war on drugs.
Not to mention that asset forfeiture would virtually go away over night and the reasoning behind the thousands of intrusive laws that exists would be gone.
To end alcohol abuse, let’s institute Prohibition. That worked really well, didn’t it?

After that, I think we'd have a better country in almost every way.
Two things needed to do that:
First, amend the Constitution so that fighting drugs actually becomes part of the fedgov's job description.
Second, give the fedgov the surveillance and police powers it would take to actually win that war. Powers that would make Beria or Himmler weep with envy.
Count me out.

I often think about things like this:
The people who deal drugs right now, are generally degenerates. If drugs are made legal, where will the degenerates go, what will they do? They will not suddenly become decent citizens because drugs are legal. They will delve into other degenerate things. Sure, they may not be drug criminals, but these people are not good productive citizens. The crime will continue, won’t it?

There is absolutely nothing in experience to show that the country would force drug users to take responsibility for their actions. On the contrary, everything shows that the country would give drug users money (welfare, free medical care) paid for by the people who have never taken drugs and never will.
Drug use would not be called a crime, or self-inflicted harm. It would be called a “disease,” meaning that the person is not responsible.
You take drugs, you can’t work, you get no money from those who work. You die from your habit, you get no sympathy from those who go out to f*cking work!

You can report abuse on anything and it just disappears a lot of times. Some of them have admitted doing it. So it’s not always just them.
Besides, sometimes it’s fun to throw a little truth in there. Of course the libs freak out. Though most of their garbage goes mostly lib, there are a few threads where folks are telling Hillary to shut up and go away.

Normally, I just prefer to skip trolls, people who are Hell-bent on disagreements, etc. But you can throw a comment out there. I give it maybe 10 minutes a day sometimes. Once in a rare mood, I’ll keep posting at bit just to push back. There are others who stand up for decency and truth; they could use some support.
There are small gains. 10-12 months ago, you’d hardly find anything but glowing praise for Hillary.
Now, you can regularly find folks slamming Hillary for Excuse 8,756 and even Maxine Waters.

This argument is correct. There is a boat load of black market money in drugs. If drugs were made legal and taxed the cartel is broken and has to find a new trade. Look at prohibition and the same violence surrounding it
