Dangerous, Filthy Homeless Encampments Force Closure of Hawaii Public Park Indefinitely
PJ Media ^ | 10/21/2017 | Megan Fox

Kakaako Waterfront Park on the island of Oahu has been closed indefinitely in order to repair the damage done by a large homeless population that has been camping there in makeshift huts and tents. This is an unprecedented move by the state of Hawaii. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser has details about the massive damage and public safety hazards in the park.

"[P]ark officials say they can no longer ensure the safety of park users following a recent series of dog bites, fires and vandalism attributed to an estimated 180 homeless people living along the Kakaako shoreline....Right now, with dog attacks and exposed wires and broken plumbing, it’s just not safe," the report explained.

...

"People are so concerned about the homeless -- who will be concerned for the middle class? The homeless steal, and in effect they literally steal public places by living there; they steal private land by living there," she complained. "They pick prime oceanfront parks to live and dare the rest of us to sound cruel when we say enough is enough. We play by all the rules, they play by none. Our community had to hire private security at our own cost to remove homeless encampments from our private property to keep the drugs and human waste out of our communities. They were using our yards as toilets, spreading disease, and the state wouldn't do anything."

...

The state has no long-term solution for the homelessness issue. They seem to do raids when the encampments get too dangerous or the public health is at risk, then spend large amounts of money to clean it up and then reopen for the homeless to come back. This cycle repeats every year. Hawaii is under complete Democrat control, in case you were wondering.

The article has some further commentary about sending the homeless to dome villages where they can be monitored more closely.

This the rights of the bums and the parasites do indeed outweigh the rights of the public who pay for the land, maintenance and upkeep of the park, the salaries of everyone involved in running the park, and the medical care, feeding and transportation of the parasites.

Nice to know that the parasites are indeed in charge of things, and us taxpayers are indeed the slaves.

This is a topic of great interest to me.

I know that many are mentally ill, or mentally unable to take part in society.

And others are so lazy and irresponsible that they are the personification of inertia.

Yet others are living below the "radar", with one or several warrants (including illegal aliens).

The problem? How to i.d. those deserving of our help?

And if this could be done with some accuracy, for the others?

Strong vagrancy laws with vigorous enforcement; and, finger printing, photographs and/or dna testing before free anything.

At first I bristled at your finger printing pre-requirement for benefits, but then I remembered the numerous times I have been fingerprinted and had fbi/bcci search requirements in order to be hired at my job.

The children of the miscegenation of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and Mitch Snyder! We, as a society, decided to empty the admitted warehouses of the un-sane (Cuckoo’s Nest) and then bowed to the grossly inflated counts of the MSM’s celebrated advocate, Mitch Snyder, to try to ‘rescue’ them.

This is the expected results, they have no worry about consequences as they are already at the bottom. They look for opportunities and exploit them because there is NOBODY that can further punish them.

The punished are the people talked about in this article, good decent everyday citizens who have NO RECOURSE in their governments. So in addition to their taxes and fees, they add this ‘societal fee’ to preserve what they had originally bought, a piece of beauty and value. Too bad, so sad!

You entirely missed the biggest point.
Democrats (using the courts) turned the mentally ill out on the street.

They did this against the wishes of both the families and the communities.

I was at a recent city council meeting where they were discussing this. Some snowflake stopped up and told us all about a great program where the city used taxpayer funds to pay the homeless an hourly wage to clean up litter, mostly their own mess. It was given zero consideration

Build camps for them in the middle of nowhere with plenty of outhouses, decent shelter, food, water. Give them whatever their drug of choice is for free. Pot, booze, meth, heroin, oxy, fentanyl....

Only requirement to get their daily issue of drugs, is to bathe, eat, and only use the outhouses for excrement.

Have drug, medical, and psychiatric treatment available upon request.

The state has no long-term solution for the homelessness issue.

Why don't you re-evaluate building codes, reform property taxes, get rid of Section 8, and stop treating landlords like evil bastards who should allow anyone and everyone to stay in their units at reduced or free rents.

You got developers chomping at the bit who could easily build micro-apartment towers for a reasonable price per month. And the units don't have to be 1,000 sq ft luxury digs; they can be motel-sized or even sleeping rooms that's still better than sleeping under an overpass.

But the Left won't do it because of all the rules and regulations landlords are forced to comply by.

I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure Photo IDs are racist. Fingerprints are likely also.
