An NFL team owners recent inmates running the prison remark has prompted a group of the leagues players to call for a meeting Monday to clear the air.
The Washington Post reported Saturday that a panel called the Players Coalition has requested a meeting Monday in Philadelphia with league Commissioner Roger Goodell, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, and free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
It wasnt immediately clear if all parties had agreed to attend.
Meanwhile, ESPN reported Saturday that the Houston Texans players were planning to stage an unspecified protest against McNair's remarks prior to Sunday's game against the Seahawks in Seattle.
Many players have been deeply troubled by the disturbing comments made by Texans' owner Bob McNair, the Players Coalition said in a statement. It is ironic that such a quote would emerge in the midst of an ongoing struggle to highlight injustices suffered by people of color, including our nation's deeply flawed approach to criminal justice and inhumane treatment of imprisoned people.
McNair has apologized twice since making what he described as a very regretful comment during a recent league meeting about players national anthem protests. The comment was published in ESPN The Magazine.
But McNair insisted afterward that he wasnt referring to the players as inmates when he said, We cant have the inmates running the prison. Instead, he said, he was describing the relationship between team owners and the league office in New York.
Nevertheless, in a league on edge over race-related matters -- sparked in large part by Kaepernicks 2016 protests against American societys treatment of people of color the inmates remark wasnt accepted well.

I believe the Houston Texans owner is correct and the players run the league under the weak leadership of Roger Goodell. Goodell is a total beta-cuck and let's people walk all over him while he pretends to be an Alpha.
I wonder how many NFL season ticket holders next year will be gone?
My prediction is the NFL will bleed a slow death. It may take 20 years, but it will be gone. Even if they successfully stop this I still don't think it's salvageable.
People are tired of politics in sports. If you don't think that is the case, then look at what happened to ESPN as soon as they because political.
Even half the Leftist I know say politics do not belong in sports and they just want to watch the games without controversy.
“”I wonder how many NFL season ticket holders next year will be gone?””
This could be the FINAL Superbowl.
Why Kaepernick????
What is there to meet about? Plenty of hungry talent out there ready to replace these ingrates.
With Kaepernick? Really? Do they want to totally destroy the NFL? Their ignorance is staggering.
The players are always going to look for things to be offended by (except spousal abuse, assault, duis, etc). Its never going to end until someone says no to these guys and starts firing some people.
The Left has been trying to destroy football since Teddy Roosevelt. They finally suceeded.
who cares about these people screw them boycotting the NFL they suck overpaid entitled babies
> Why Kaepernick???? <
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were unavailable. They probably wanted too much money up front.
The NFL did it all on their own, they didn’t need any help from the Left.
College Football is still thriving, as it did up to the 1970s. Now things are returning back to normal.
"Inmates running the prison" is a pretty common figure of speech, but it appears it CONVENIENTLY doesn't pass muster with a segment of the NFL Thugs.
We should organize a “National Sunday Without Football” and show them who’s boss.
“I wonder how many NFL season ticket holders next year will be gone? “
an especially large number gone for the Texans next year given the team-wide protest planned for the beginning of their game today against the Seahawks ...
Will Kraperfink wear his police piggy socks?
Because McNair is now the designated owner to hire him??
That’s because the truth hurts, but it must be said.
They hate the truth and cannot handle it.
“Why Kaepernick????”
He was the “FIRST”.
The poor, tired Rosa Parks of the NFL Millionaire Players Club.
Ummm... Yeah, the sun will never rise on the day I decide to let some genius jock tell me how/what to think, even when I agree with them. To the best of my knowledge, none of them were hired for their social awareness or their intellectual capabilities, were they? Actually, some of them behave so badly, one might surmise the knuckleheads were hired BECAUSE of their anti-social tendencies. Good grief!
