With gun violence garnering unflattering national attention for Chicago, carjackings have quietly gone off the charts as well. While shootings and homicides are largely concentrated in impoverished pockets of the South and West sides, carjackings are occurring throughout the city, including the downtown area, Chicago police statistics show.
Last year Chicago recorded 663 carjackings, nearly double the 339 in 2015 and the most since 2009, according to the department. And the numbers have shot up even further so far this year. Through Oct. 18, the latest date available, carjackings have totaled 661, nearly equal to all of 2016 and a 44 percent spike from the same period a year ago.

I drive a vehicle with a manual transmission so I will have plenty of time to aim while the carjacker tries to figure out how to engage it.
Here’s a thought ... Chicago already has on record the most number and idiotic anti-gun laws in the country, I think.
Why not, for the sake of dwindling metro transportation users, just let the “city wise men” outlaw personal motor vehicles within the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area?

Is it legal to “boot” your own vehicle in Chitown; or do they have strict boot-control laws there, too?
I’m a bit confused. The Article states that the “unidentified / no physical description” Perpetrators used Guns when stealing the Cars.
Since Chicago is the Gun Control Capital of the United States of America, how can this be? Does the rest of Illinois where Guns are more readily available (well, sort of) have this problem?
These Victims should be taking a Concealed Carry Firearms Course, not going to some overpaid Shrink who pats their hands and says there, there you poor thing, that misunderstood Carjacker is a Victim of oppression and White Privilege.
Oh that right, armed self defense in Chicago isn’t a Right, it’s a privilege reserved for the “special” people. Only important People like Mayor Rahm are entitled to Armed Self Defense. The rest of them are merely statistics.

Take heart Chicago, in MA they just passed a Law that says possession of one of those Evil Bump Stocks can get you Life in Prison. Do any of these Carjackers who terrorize innocent Men, Women and Children ever get sentenced to Life in Prison?
