Many people have tried to explain away the mass shootings in Texas and Las Vegas as mental illness. I can assure you that 99.9 percent of mentally ill people could never kill anyone.
People are ruling out a spiritual component to these shootings. The mass shooters reflect the classic behavior one should expect of armed people who are demon-possessed. I invite Freepers who are mature Christians, and who have developed the ability to do spiritual discernment, to comment on this issue.
Then there is the issue of Judge Roy Moore of Alabama, the most committed Christian to be a Senate candidate over the last generation. The man is on fire for the Lord. This has resulted in the most vicious media defamation campaign that has ever been launched against a senate candidate in recent history. Could he cause a national spiritual revival if he is elected to the Senate, and the strongholds of demon possession in Washington DC do not want him in the senate?
I don’t think you are far off. But God’s purposes will not be thwarted. Maybe that is why so many on the left ridiculed prayer. Prayer is powerful.

In pointing out that 0.1% of the mentally ill could kill someone, you've answered the question yourself: Yes, these mass murders could indeed be the result of mere mental illness - with no supernatural involvement at all.

I believe they are real, and I believe drugs (and certain medications, particularly psychotropics) give them a foothold into a persons mind.
But even the brain can get ill and the evidence of such illness can be called paranoid schizophrenia. But there are other serious brain illnesses that can be mistaken as demonic possession by those not educated.
We know that Satan and his minions have been subverting and attempting to derail God’s plan since his attempted usurpation of God’s throne. He is a usurper, murderer and takes great pleasure in all that is innocent and good being smeared. Yes, he is active. Yes, he is good at what he does. No, he is not omnipotent. He is a dying and defeated foe in his death throes immediately prior to Christ’s return.
I would encourage all Freepers to place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone for their salvation. The bible says that if we believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, thou shalt be saved. Today is the day of salvation.
Single parent families, peer pressure, drugs, and availability of guns to deranged people also contribute in major ways.

The more I read about the Texas killer, the more possessed he seems. He was pure evil. A monster. The devil himself.
Yes it is real.
Many are oppressed, few are actually possessed.

IF you believe the Bible —and I do, then the stories of Jesus and some disciples dealing with demonic possession, if studied carefully, will lead to the conclusion that demonic possession is not only real, it may in fact be heralded by ‘physical disease’ ... we have no idea how big or small demons are in existence; they could be cellular level invaders, as Jesus ended physical illnesses by casting out demons.
The overwhelmingly strong presence of Satan overcame my agnosticism to become a believer. If the devil exists that’s proof that the Creator exists as well.
Call it what you want, ‘Demon Possession’ is only a moniker. It obviously exists.
A psychiatrist friend (brilliant guy) was asked if some people who are diagnosed with mental illness might actually be possessed. He replied,”Yes, and I can tell the difference.”
Of course, he is employed by the hospital not a ministry so he doesn’t practice exorcisms ;).
Is demon possession real?
No.
We are up against rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms and they operate “in” the world system. Bodily possession ended when Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. It was allowed to show his glorious power to deliver men while on earth. We are now to be “transformed by the renewing of [our] minds”. The battle against the demonic is with SPIRITUAL weapons, and the taking captive of THOUGHTS that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. Believing the good news of Jesus Christ breaks demonic power. The charismatics and their demonism have wreaked havoc among many. Satan is not in charge, people. He’s on a leash and does what He is ALLOWED to do, and by God’s order.
There is no yin-yang. God is enthroned in heaven, laughing at his foes (Psalm 2) until the Day he throws Death and Hades into the Lake of Fire!
A good place to start “exorcising” Satan, then, is STOP FILLING OUR MINDS WITH HIS GARBAGE (music, movies, tv, books, sports, etc.) and filling our minds with God’s awesome Word. Get an audio Bible you like and listen to it as you walk, ride a bike, work (i had a job loading a trailer for hours and I took in a lot of His word then, and had a big smile on my face...and some tears).
