BOFFINS have discovered the ruins of a 3,000-year old castle underwater and believe they have finally found what theyve been looking for.
Archaeologists who have been searching Lake Van the second largest lake in Turkey for decades have discovered what they believe is a lost city.
The castle is thought to be an Iron Age relic of the Urartu civilisation also called the Kingdom of Van which lived in the area from the 6th to the 9th century BC.
The remarkable discovery was made by archaeologists from the Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and a team of divers.
Tahsin Ceylan, head of the diving team of the project, has been searching for the Lake Van Monster a beast supposedly similar to the legendary Loch Ness Monster when he found the castle.
He told the Daily Sabah: There was a rumour that there might be something under the water but most archaeologists and museum officials told us that we wont find anything.
The water levels of the lake had changed over the past few thousand years.

Wow, two Urartu topics in one day? Whan has that happened before?
Thanks vannrox, and thank you to all Boffins eveywhere.

(probably the monster lives *inside* the castle, like when your fish tank has one of those miniature castles, fish like to hide in there.)
Ooops, I should have checked before I made that joke.
Global warming and the rise of the moat?
I could never find a castle that was big enough for the fish to hide in. But then, I couldn’t afford an aquarium big enough to hold more than the Beta... ;o]
I was getting started watching this YouTube vid on the Roku, until it got to the point that I realized I had to get up and get doing stuff. So I shut off the TV and everything, put on the robe, and came down here.
And got online.
Yes, I’m a renaissance man.

Yeah, and they don’t hide, they act like they’re the biggest thing swimmin’. :^)
That’s no big deal. In a short period of time, the beta is always alone in the aquarium anyway.
I’ve never put any other fish in with a Beta. ;o]
This must have been one strange world indeed. Look at all those white and blue boulders strewn about. And the towering plants.
