Remember that in 0bama's first year, Independents were 30 percent of the vote and they gave 52 percent of that vote to Barack Obama. Their support for him has been in a straight decline. It's down to about 39 percent.

Reagan had a very pleasant air about him and often a twinkle in his eye when he talked about his opponents. His smile was infectious and seemed non-threatening to most observers. It disarmed his political opponents though.
If I could give DJT a piece of advice, it would be to develop a nice smile when announcing good news. When tweeting, perhaps add a cute emoji when appropriate. Do not underestimate ‘likeability’.

Mark Steyn on Rush just said the same thing and it's even more remarkable given the press and media this past year have been 90% unfavorable in their covering him. Obama on the other hand was the darling of the media with praise and softball questioning all the time.

Two things that you can count on. One, Forget political polls...all of them!!! Two, You can bank on it that the entire Democrat Party will get politically slaughtered in the upcoming Mid-Term elections of 2018. Democrats will lose ten to twenty House seats and they will lose between six to twelve Senate seats. Case closed.
The reasons for this upcoming loss is evident for all to see. Start with Obama, Clinton, The FBI (Mueller/Comey, etc.) Pelosi, Schumer, Warner, Schiff, etc. and go on from here. Living life in the bubble of fantasy Democrat/Media dreams is no way to go through successful political life!!! Pollsters & Pundits. beware of what you speak and herald. I was right on the money for the 2016 POTUS election.

This is why the media will NEVER report a high approval rating or do a poll that will have POTUS over 45%.
Trump was polling poorly during the campaign, according to the media. I’m not even talking about the “who are you voting for” poll question. I’m talking other questions about whether he’s qualified to be President (60% according the media at the time said no). The media has been pushing the narrative nobody likes Trump for almost two years now.
Yet he flipped three DEEP BLUE states that haven’t voted R in over three decades. And he did it by not just getting big rural turnout but by flipping blue suburbs in places like PA and WI.
The GOPe doesn’t gaf about approval rating polls. They worked against him right after he was elected with 306 EV.
That was the only poll that mattered.
Not only that the Trump wave helped keep the Senate and House in the hands of the Republicans.
Before the actual vote on 11/8/2016, everyone was predicting not only Trump getting crushed but the Dems taking back one or both houses.
