When the sun rose on April 19, 1993, it marked the 51st day of a standoff between dozens of federal agents and members of an apocalyptic religious sect called the Branch Davidians, who had barricaded themselves in their compound outside Waco, Texas.

was upset at the time but didn't understand well I could see it but never was sure who started the fire.

One video I saw seemed to show the last few dribbles of napalm dripping from a short nozzle on the left front of the tank which had just been driven through the wall of the building.

Either way, anyone who ordered/approved CS gas to be used against civilians in an enclosed space, let alone against women & children, should be doing hard time for attempted murder.

Are you aware that when Koresh went for a jog, he ran right past a BATF observation location? They could have arrested a winded Koresh with ease.

This thing stunk from way before the assault on the farmhouse.

Compound? Sect?

Since when are people who are exercising the freedoms guaranteed under our Constitution, fair game?

He knew Koresh. He thought him a reasoned man.

Koresh worked around town. He wasn’t a danger to the community, and the sheriff wasn’t buying what the BATF was peddling.

Janet Reno had to kill them ‘to end the cycle of abuse.

Janet Reno, my @$$ !

She was Attorney General (for all of two months) and had no authority to order military assets be used (even if she had been there for two years).

This was Bill Clinton's call.

A friend of mine back then worked in Washington, he told me David Koresh everyday would go jogging alone and the ATF knew that but they decided to take him down the hard way by doing a raid, I assume on Jan-nut Renos orders. And the ultimate result wasn’t just the people and kids in that compound who died, but the 168 people in the Oklahoma city bombing as well as that nut Timothy McVeigh used Waco as an excuse to do that bombing. All they had to do was pick Koresh up while he went jogging and instead all those people and kids ended up losing their lives and there was nary a peep of protest from the left.

The only two federal agents that were killed at Waco were both former Clinton bodyguards, and they were killed by ‘friendly fire’.

If I remember correctly, they were the last two- all others are dead too.

Yes, I did know that. I also loved the way the media described the “arsenal of weapons in the bunker” that the Davidians owned. You have over 100 people living in the same place and stored their weapons in a safe manner and in the same location. That suddenly became an arsenal. I guess my gun safe is now an arsenal.

The story I always heard was the ATF needed a “big show” for budget justification. Far easier to go after isolated white guy nuts like Koresh & Weaver then real problems like the “Bloods & the Cripes”. The “white gun nuts” are off by themselves likely won’t put up much of a fuss if arrested You with media’s help tar them with all sorts of heinous crimes like child abuse. Besides the “Bloods & Cripes” are dangerous someone might get hurt. For the Waco/Koresh case “child abuse” was a good claim because Reno made her bones on a big Miami child abuse case. (Which turned to be bogus - a witch hunt & prosecutorial abuse! N just society that should have ended Reno’s career!)

I heard one story that Waco was all hilLIARy’s doing, and Janet Reno agreed to take the blame in return for keeping her job.

ATF agent Robert Elder. "We didn’t drive up there and start shooting and killing people. We responded with deadly force because deadly force was used against us."

The ATF drove up and started shooting and killing all the dogs. That's not exactly how to win friends and influence people.

After reading 3 different books on this subject, I believe there is not one entity to blame.

David Koresh was a sick man. And anyone dumb enough to follow him (like married grown men who could not have relations with their wives because of Koresh) is partly to blame.

But also a overzealous government agency who has to prove what they are doing is important/worth the money was at fault also. We you spend hours upon hours investigating someone/something, you expect to show fruits for your labor.
And they wanted a BIG prize. Well, they got it. And they got the OKC bombing with it.

From what I saw, it wasn’t a very large collection of guns either.

In this day and age, it seems anything over one gun is referenced as an “arsenal”.

The Democrat governor of Texas at the time was Ann Richards. She and Hillary met the weekend before the attack on the Branch Davidians. God has not forgotten the evil plan they hatched.

I remember watching this on the local news as it went down. Of course Koresh was demonized by the talking heads. And when the fire broke out and tanks were on the scene I said "What the hell??!!" As G-man said on his radio show at the time: "The US has engaged in the filthy business of using its military against its own people."

I can guess how far that suit went.
