Based on mucho experience in this field, I can tell you there is one very good reason to keep them employed. After the IG report comes out and as much evidence, texts, emails etc. are thoroughly reviewed, then it is ripe to call them before Congress. As feds they can be ordered to, and compelled to give testimony. If they assert the 5th, limited immunity can be granted and if they don’t testify they will be jailed. If they lie, they will be caught, and go to jail. Their only out would be to be truthful and give up any bigger fish if that can be substantiated.

For this to work, Congress must have information from all the sources before the two are subpoenaed or ordered to comply.

I hope this is how it is proceeding. That said Wray, Rosenstein and Sessions can’t be trusted nor anyone working for them in a close position.

I have a better one. While in the Federal government as a political appointee under Reagan, we had an employee that was poison. She was a “friend” with a Senator. We had a legitimate need to open a one person field office far oversees (Northern Marianas). While you can’t fire civil service employees easily you can transfer them. So we sent her a directive transferring her to the Marianas.

She just got back flying from Europe from a vacation. She produced a Doctors note saying she had to refuse the reassignment due to health reasons caused by flying.

My Assistant Secretary was stumped. We checked and there was no cruise ship lines that would work. I then remembered about tramp steamers and found even today there are cargo ships you can book a passage room on.

We sent her a very nice letter, expressing our utmost concern about her health, and to accommodate her told her she had booking on a cargo ship and the date she had to be on it.

She quit.

A government job is not like being a clerk at ACE hardware. There are layers upon layers of processes and policies surrounding every aspect of being a civil “servant.” Probably no one has the ability to fire a government employee outright. Even if they brought a gun to work and were caught with drugs at their desk, I suspect you’d have to refer them to HR and HR would like the whole matter to just go away.

Surely there are toilets somewhere that need cleaning.

Others here have commented that something about this whole relationship seems very odd and there are at least a few things about that would seem to support that view. Both Page and Strzok were in marriages before they ‘connected’ and apparently they are still living and are seen with their spouses. The text messages mostly discuss things that they are doing. It’s like they are working on a ‘project’ discussing objectives, rationale and actions etc…not the talk of two in an affair. Others have suggested that the ‘affair’ was just a cover for what they were doing. That would seem to be crazy talk but perverted motives will also elicit perverted methods…..I’m going to assume that this will all become clearer at some point.
