A fifth Republican is now running in the June primary for a chance to challenge Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia in November.
News outlets reported Tuesday that Bert Mizusawa has entered the Republican primary and is expected to plan an announcement this week. He is a retired major general in the U.S. Army Reserve and foreign policy adviser to Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports Mizusawa filed a statement of candidacy Friday. His campaign manager, Mike Wade, tells The Washington Post that frustration over the recent three-day government shutdown helped motivate Mizusawa to enter the race.
Mizusawa will run against Prince William Board of County Supervisors chairman Corey Stewart, minister E.W. Jackson, state Del. Nick Freitas, and businessman and military veteran Ivan Raiklin.
Flood the field so that the Democrat wins.
This is for the R primary. Any idea if 51% is required to win or if these guys are all RINO’s ?
What an incredible resume. War hero, Harvard Law, Trump supporter. I live in Virginia and have been wondering who to help campaign. Thinking Steward but worth looking closer at Bert Mizusawa. Find out more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bert_Mizusawa
Oh and when he graduated from West Point was named number one man first in his class.
I think I’ll stick with Corey.
He’s working hard and loves President Trump.
First in his class from West Point. Airborne Ranger Infantry officer - as a Captain he commanded the Joint Security Force, in the Korean DMZ, including during a Platoon-sized firefight with the Norks.
Any idea if 51% is required to win ....
Gillespie won the Gov primary in a 3-way with about 40% of the vote, so I’d say no.
“Flood the field so that the Democrat wins.”
First the primary, then the general.
Still there is a problem when too many enter for the sake of vanity and attention. Republicans tend to do this more than dems.
So suppose they are all Rinos. Really think KAINE is better then any Rino?
At least he served in the military.
When I was growing up, most politicians R or D were veterans.
That’s how the Bush League Republicans have had us voting for their amnesty candidates for 30 years.
Corey Stewart is on the side of the citizens and the rule of law. Not sure about the other guys.
VA is a blue state now. No matter who the Republicans pick, Kaine will win easliy
With Soros owning the company that runs the voting machines and a corrupt Fed DOJ that will not do anything on that - unless its fixed the dem will steal it.
to challenge Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia
None of them have a chance.
Kaine is a shoo-in for re-election thanks to NOVA.
Its why VA is Blue.
Harvard Law. Graduated first in his class from West Point for undergrad.
Commie Red. Blue is the color of Conservatism, despite the Newspeak lie.
He can call his critics racists! Hot diggidy!
