Trump seeks to limit access to records seized in FBI raid

The porn actress Stormy Daniels is expected to attend a court hearing in New York on Monday where a U.S. judge is hearing more arguments about President Donald Trump’s extraordinary request that he be allowed to review records seized from his personal lawyer’s office as part of a criminal investigation before they are examined by prosecutors.

The raid carried out last Monday at Michael Cohen’s apartment, hotel room, office and safety deposit box sought bank records, records on Cohen’s dealing in the taxi industry, Cohen’s communications with the Trump campaign and information on payments made in 2016 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal and to Daniels, whose birth name is Stephanie Clifford, people familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the confidential details of the investigation.

Both women say they had affairs with Trump.

Lawyers for Cohen said Monday that investigators “took everything” during raids last week. Prosecutors say Cohen is being investigated for an undisclosed crime related to his personal business dealings.

Joanna Hendon, a Trump lawyer, argued in papers filed Sunday that any materials involving the president should be flagged by Cohen and turned over to the president to be reviewed for any attorney-client privilege issues. …

I think there will be leaks from the FBI long before any attorney/client privilege issues are decided.

And here I thought a search warrant was supposed to limit what should be taken

You thought right:

"no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I don't think "everything" is an adequate description of the "things to be seized".

If they had a search warrant then where is the illegality?

If the search warrant did not describe the "things to be seized" or was obtained by perjury, a search on those terms would be illegal.

“Trump’s extraordinary request that he be allowed to review records seized from his personal lawyer’s office”

This from the media that never saw anything unusual about a hacked server being investigated by the FBI and leading to the appointment of a special prosecutor asking to interrogate the POTUS, and yet the same server was NEVER taken into custody by the FBI.

This from the media that never saw anything unusual about Hillary Clinton and her attorneys keeping her emails in order to determine which ones were personal versus work-related when the whole nature of the investigation was to determine if any of those emails contained classified information. They also did not have a problem with her destroying evidence.

But Trump’s attorney-client privilege is blatantly violated and the media thinks it is “extraordinary” for him to be able to review information that was taken in this raid? They think it is not unusual that an attorney that is fully cooperating gets raided and all of his files are taken? They think there is nothing unusual about the behavior of the same FBI which, for many months, refused to comply with a Congressional Subpoena?

What is extraordinary is the degree of deception the Associated Press perpetrates on the public.

Every word has been seen and heard and is being leaked en masse to the fake “media.” That was the purpose of this illegal raid: opposition research. That is why Trump should have been tapping Rosenstein’s communications and blocking the raid with his own Federal Marshalls once it was approved.

Lawlessness is what the left wing does to any opponent. In this case, it would be foolish to believe this has not already been completely accomplished with all of Cohens records, down to the last receipt.

Of course, when it comes to the left wing covering up their anti-American agenda and plans, everything is erased, destroyed, and if necessary people literally murdered, and honest investigations barred and brazenly mocked.

It is what they do. This is how they have always operated throughout modern history.

In their hearts, they are lawless thugs, just like Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Polpot, Castro, Gaverra etc...

I would not hold my breath, but if the judge handling this case had any moral boundaries or adherence to the law, they would bar the anti-American weaponized feds from using any of Cohens records, and make it illegal to leak it either.

However, the light at the end of the tunnel is likely not going to be good.

The profuse leaking from day one was illegal, and the weaponized feds do it with impunity, because of Sessions.

Sessions will already go down as the greatest anti-American, lawless, disaster in US AG history! American could literally end as we know it, because of the enemy Sessions is working for.

Yup.

What the LIVer sees in this headline:

"Trump trying to cover something up!"

As the AP intended.
