Like many union workers, Oberbroeckling voted twice for former Democratic President Barack Obama before backing Donald Trump and other Republicans in 2016.
Now he has buyers remorse - and plans to support the Democratic challenger to Rod Blum, the Republican congressman in this blue-collar, eastern Iowa district.
Trump is for the rich, said Oberbroeckling, 37, sipping a rum-and-coke. Blums for big business. They said they were for the workers, but theyre not.
That sentiment should encourage Democrats, who saw their once-reliable labor vote help send Trump to the White House after he vowed to revive Rust Belt factories with trade tariffs and ailing coal mines with environmental deregulation. Now - with coal still struggling and Trump stoking a trade war - many union workers have soured on the president ahead of Novembers midterm congressional elections, the Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll shows.

Leftie fantasy - they search out for the unusual person or event that supports their narrative, and make it seem like the typical.
are they targeting the newly employed union workers??
Very true.
It is a big job to restart a mine that has been shut down.
And then they have to reacquire the lost customer base.
When Obama shut the mines down many customers had to find alternative sources of energy.
His actions forced many to switch from coal to other types of power and to install equipment to use it.
So many former coal customers have been permanently lost.
Yes, because we know how well globalist Democrat policies work for blue collar workers (or should I say “non college educated whites”)?
Both of them?
Its all just Leftist Media Complex, DNC Propaganda.
Too funny - the only ones with buyer’s remorse are the ones who can only keep a job via union protection....
As per Freeper LS: “Iowa Republican registration is +15k (Feb 2018) up 1k from Jan, both parties lost but Republicans gained every single month.”
Crap like this is what you hear from lazy union thugs. Iowa unemployment is 2.8% down from 2.9% with an additional 30k working just since October 2017. Nice try lazy union thug but now it is time to get off your bar stool, put down your rum and coke and go out and get a job.
He can thank the Republican Congress for this. If they had just fulfilled Trump's promises, this could be a different ball game. Trump gave them a coalition, and they stepped all over it.
