John McCain: It 'Wasn’t Incorrect' to Say Rand Paul Was 'Working for Vladimir Putin'
Reason ^ | May. 16, 2018 1:19 pm | Matt Welch

In March 2017, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) successfully delayed for 11 days Senate ratification of Montenegro's entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). America's leading advocate for NATO expansion, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) responded by accusing Paul of "achieving the objectives of Vladimir Putin...of trying to dismember this small country."

"I repeat again," McCain said then, remarkably. "The senator from Kentucky is now working for Vladimir Putin."

Perhaps even more remarkably, though not very surprisingly, McCain is unapologetic about that accusation in his valedictory new memoir, The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and Other Appreciations. "Senator Paul didn't appreciate that, and I'll grant that it was an intemperate thing to say," McCain writes, with co-author Mark Salter. "But it wasn't incorrect. He might not have worked wittingly for Putin, but he was doing exactly what the Russian wanted done."

Oh......and you didn’t work for North Nam Songbird? The great McCain confessed to being a war criminal and to committing treason during the war. And Nixon pardoned all prisioners to throw your sorry ass into a class cause of admiral daddy's shame.
GFY! Strong words to follow.

He’s projecting again.

He’s the one who’s been working for communists... for a long time now, since they re-programmed him.

CSM, 2007:
McCain says he is not “born again” and has not been baptized. He says he is “just a Christian,” who for many years has been attending the North Phoenix Baptist Church in Arizona with his family. He was raised in the Episcopal Church and attended Episcopal High School, an elite boarding school in Alexandria, Va., where he was required to attend chapel every morning and church on Sunday. At the US Naval Academy, church attendance was also required.

“So I certainly was exposed!” he says, chuckling.

I know not everyone likes Rand, and I don’t agree with all his principles, but at least he HAS principles - unlike Keating Five McCain.

“When is the time when McCain will try to look back at his deeds and regret how he neglected to be kinder and more understanding to others in his life? That’s quite common for people who know their last days are approaching.”

I’ve known a few that just became angrier and more bitter as the end drew nigh.
One man grew more vengeful from thinking about all the perceived slights he had suffered over his lifetime.
I expect Songbird to be that type.

While I agree with you it is still more complex than that.

McCain wrote his book, and the book is now doing the talking for him.

The drivebys and democrats who hate all things Trump and Republican can now use quotes from the book to hack away at their enemies, as they are definitely doing.

I do condemn McCain for the words in his book, but they are also provide a hell of a lot of ammunition for the Trump haters.

The most enduring memories I have about McCain include him lambasting the family member of a VN POW-MIA who questioned the military bureaucracy; his support for gun control; his support for illegals; arming ISIS &c; bashing his own running mate, Palin; womanizing and dumping his wife; supporting everything over the Constitution. What a resume.

John McCain’s Neocon minions remain active on Free Republic.

Anyone who ever says anything positive, or neutral about Russia is labeled a Putinista.

They actually still believe “Putin Shaming” is a real thing.

But, for some reason, they don’t realize everyone knows they are stupid.

Only a seriously crazy person spends their last weeks on earth trashing people who could care less.

And the media (including Fox News!) has a collective hissy fit if we “insult” the “hero” and say he’s going to die soon.

Hell, it’s just wishful thinking. I wish he had died in Vietnam and saved us all having to even know who he is.
