The Justice Department on Monday announced charges against a former CIA computer engineer for allegedly leaking top-secret information on U.S. government hacking tools to WikiLeaks.
In a 13-count superseding indictment, the agency charged Joshua Adam Schulte with illegally gathering classified national defense information and transmitting it to “an organization.” WikiLeaks published the data in March of last year.
“Schulte utterly betrayed this nation and downright violated his victims,” FBI official William Sweeney Jr. said in the release. “As an employee of the CIA, Schulte took an oath to protect this country, but he blatantly endangered it by the transmission of Classified Information."
Prosecutors identified Schulte as a suspect in the leak last month, but did not yet have sufficient evidence to bring charges.
The Justice Department did not name WikiLeaks in a press release about the indictment, but attorneys involved in a child pornography case involving Schulte revealed earlier this year that the 29-year-old was the focus of an investigation into WikiLeaks’ dispersal of classified CIA information.
Schulte is currently in custody on child pornography charges, and is suspected to be behind the leak of CIA information to WIkiLeaks known as “Vault 7,” believed to be one of the largest unauthorized releases of CIA information in history.
The indictment also charges Schulte with lying to investigators, obstruction of justice, theft of government property and transmitting a harmful computer program.

I have no knowledge or opinion on Schulte, but I am sure that mixed in with legit arrests for child porn we are also going to see some where the porn was planted on the victim’s computer.
The charge is that he leaked hacking tools to wiki.
Those tools now form the basis of many foreign programs.

A bigger story is the loss of confidence in our justice system. After politically motivated selective prosecutions of the Trump team, and the hands off treatment of Hillary, Obama and Dems., I can’t trust DOJ/FBI claims and evidence.
So if I read this right the Child {Porn has nothing top do with WikiLeaks, they only added that as a supposition that he was leaking it to them and then they to foreign Govs.
In other words trying to tie WikiLeaks to Muh Russia
Selective prosecution puts everything into question which is exactly why I wondered about this case.
It's becoming difficult to know the truth about anything and anyone anymore.

I wonder what kind of “insurance” he had that made him believe he either would never be charged or would get off easy? Does he have an embarrassing list of government officials that had access to the child porn? Does he have a list of people whose computers have been compromised, either drained of info or had info added?
I would suspect that involving govt agency cases 90% of the time the child porn is planted to guarantee a conviction and since they control the seized computer the suspect will have no defense...a guaranteed kill shot.
Who knows. We will likely never know that truth.
Guilty or innocent, he's been neutralize and he won't be giving anyone trouble anymore.
