All 12 Boys And Their Coach Are Rescued From Thai Cave, After 2 Weeks

An elite team of Thai Navy SEALs and foreign rescue divers brought out the final four boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave near the Thai-Myanmar border, extracting the team through a labyrinth of tight passages after they spent two weeks trapped in darkness.

The operation on Tuesday moved quickly, raising hopes that all 12 boys and their adult coach from the Wild Boars soccer team would be at the surface by the end of the day.

"We are not sure if this is a miracle, a science, or what. All the thirteen Wild Boars are now out of the cave," the Thai navy SEALs, which is helping to lead the operation, said on its Facebook page.

Earlier, the unit had written, "Today, the boar's pack will be reunited again."

One by one, the last of the remaining four boys were carried to ambulances that whisked them to evacuation helicopters and finally, on to the hospital.

BREAKING: Everyone at the press centre - volunteers and media - near the cave site just applauded and cheered as a helicopter flew overhead - flying one or more of the boys to the hospital in Chiang Rai? #ThaiCaveRescue @AFP

— Richard Sargent (@rsargent79) July 10, 2018 Still to emerge from the cave: a doctor who has treated the 13 stranded people after they were found last Monday, and three Thai Navy SEAL divers who helped with the complicated and precarious rescue operation.

The boys, ranging in age from 11 to 16, and their coach, 25, set out to explore the Tham Luang Nang Non cave system on June 23, but they became trapped after heavy rains quickly flooded passages. Divers finally located them on July 2, allowing emergency crews to send them food and supplies.

The assistant coach is 25. The head coach is 37.

“It seems odd that if they new they were in the cave, why did it take 9 days to finally get to them? “

Because no one can hold their breath and swim underwater for a mile.

....”begs the question on why they weren’t found for another 9 days”....

Photos of the caves terrain and rescue would show you why....the flash flood waters were a great hinderence as the undercurrents were swift...once you view the inside of the cave, where they had to drill away stone, and how the search itself was filled with barriers etc. Does explain a lot.

Def incorrect. The head coach had an appt that day. He gave the asst coach tips on how to look after the kids since he would not be available that day.

LOL!

After looking at the initial stories of the search, I realized that I had made the mistake of not knowing much of this type of rescue. “Just get some scuba divers and go get them!”

Shame on me - as I I know how difficult other things are and get a little upset when folks want instant success. “The hurricane was two days ago!! How come I still don’t have power!!!???”

It is amazing the logistics the rescue took - and that all takes time to organize. And - the miles and miles of pathways in the cave complex.

But the assistant coach is a “stateless orphan” - so that makes a better story perhaps!! (Lots of crap on twitter where folks are saying stuff like “Now maybe they can come over here and rescue the 10,000 kid's locked up in the ICE cages.”

The team itself has numerous (mostly?) stateless kids - refugees from Myanmar and elsewhere.

Evan Sayet really illuminates the mechanisms behind the lefts deadly embrace with incompetence and ignorance.

I am also starting to see that Dr. Jordan Peterson is homing in on the same target. The opening of this video is not for small children or the faint of heart.

“I know this is not PC and as a female I should not post this but-—after having seen the tiny little areas the rescuers has to navigate through I am shocked both the rescuers and their huge balls could fit through. :)

Amazing job, best news ever.”

I’ve been following this hour-by-hour from the beginning, mostly on ThaiVisa.com, an expatriate site. Best comment I’ve seen! Thai and foreign rescuers would appreciate the humor. I’ll try and pass it on.

Thais would post 555! The number 5 is pronounced HA! So Ha, Ha, Ha! :)

You are trying to set the record straight. The assistant coach led the team into the cave, passing a sign that warned against going in during monsoon season, according to your article in post 120. People should read that.
The coach obviously made a mistake ignoring the sign, but I think people will forgive him because he kept up the team’s hopes for 10 days in very miserable conditions.

Yeah, funny but not. And prefer to leave that to private real-life conversations.

But even so, it always bugs me because it is very sexist and pointless. Overemphasis not just on maleness, but on what indicates strength.

Normally prior to our sex-obsessed age, one would say GUTS. And indeed, when you are scared - male or female - what goes haywire and feels bad is the guts, including puking or bowel clearing. Testes have no feeling for fear or boldness. The reference is irrelevant and leaves out women.
