Analyzing the Trump effect: Is America having a nervous breakdown?
SF Chronicle ^ | Aug 9, 2018 | Joe Garofoli

Think people are losing their minds over President Trump? Maybe it’s not all in your head.

The American Psychological Association is holding its annual convention in San Francisco, and there are no fewer than 15 symposiums, panel discussions and paper presentations devoted to the psychological ills that practitioners believe are spreading under the president.

The list of Trump-related topics at the four-day conference covers the psychic waterfront. “Metaphors and the Trump Administration: What Are Effective Responses?” “Healing Practices and Models for Undocumented Students in the Trump Era.” “Gaining Perspective: Intergroup Conflict Intervention With Trump Supporters and Opponents.”

And, “#MAGA: What Pro-Trump Hashtags Tell Us About the 2016 Election.”

Speakers at the conference, which has drawn 11,000 psychologists from around the country, say the glut of Trump-gazing is understandable: The political world is freaking a lot of people out.

In the psychological association’s 2017 Stress of America survey, 57 percent of respondents said “the current political climate” was a top source of angst in their lives. More people were stressed out by politics than their family responsibilities (49 percent) or their health situation (also 49 percent.)

Political-related stress has never scored that high in the dozen years the organization has been putting America on the survey couch. Now, people who live in the world of the 50-minute hour are seeing poli-stress every day.

“We’re seeing it in our clients, we’re seeing it our colleagues — people are on edge,” said Fred Bemak, a George Mason University professor who will be leading a symposium Friday on “The Impact of Global Politics and the Trump Era on Psychology.”

For eight years, Deplorables and Normal Americans lived under President Obama and porkulus, global apologizing, anti-Israel posturing, funeral selfies, "you didn't build that" and other goodies. Aside from The Tea Party gathering in D.C., was there ANY widespread public dissent? No. Did we see conservatives melt down and freak out en masse? No.

In fact, I'd have been EMBARRASSED had I read the following:

Think people are losing their minds over President Obama? Maybe it’s not all in your head.

The American Psychological Association is holding its annual convention in Butte, and there are no fewer than 15 symposiums, panel discussions and paper presentations devoted to the psychological ills that practitioners believe are spreading under the president.

Students and staffers at Hillsdale were so upset after Obama's election “that we held healing sessions,” Bemak said. “People were crying.”

All this has to do with is the fact that Democrats/Libs/Leftists are unable to accept reality. It isn’t Trump, it is their mental illness.

Is America having a nervous breakdown?

What is this?

When your side polls less than 50%, just call it "America" says...?

The cure: turning off the MSM and staying off social media.

Bingo!

I stopped watching television in 1994. My life immediately got better.

“I think that lefties patronize shrinks more than conservatives do.”

Are there any shrinks who voted for President Trump?

What conservative would want to be “treated” by some snowflake who thinks Felonia the murderer is wonderful?

Is mental health treatment available to conservatives today?

Ass-u-me

What grieves me so much here is that when people are angry at the missteps of the left, they act self righteous about it rather than have a godly anger.

This will cause God to withdraw much of His wrath from the left. And it’s just as well — the left is lost, and it sins in ignorance and unbelief. And the right is, at best, just barely found, having only a vestige of what Christianity used to be.

So have I been and it’s really encouraging to see how many different kinds of people finally have allowed the facts/truth of things to penetrate all of the many layers of propaganda that they’ve been feeding upon...some for many, many decades.

Oh, sure, an epidemic of mental illness caused by nothing. Spontaneous mass mental illness. Uhuh.

How about a couple of generations of too much fatherlessness, increasing “recreational” drug use and hordes of foreigners (including Eastern European) taking over U.S. institutions.
