The R's should have had a political swat team in place to contend with what was certain to occur. Instead, is it possible the anti-Trump wing went passive with a "the-SOB-deserves-whatever-he-gets" attitude. Even now the advice Trump receives may not be of a workable quality.
While Trump may be the leader of the R party, managing a national political party is not his strong suit due to a lack of experience.
It is not clear at least to me that Ford has actually made a false statement to the senate. If she has the R's ought to initiate an action for posterity no matter how they feel about Trump.
In any event the R's ought to bring the hammer down on Feinstein for her outrageous behavior in the matter. Further, if his nomination fails, K ought to sue the hell out of Ford on behalf of, at the least, his wife and children.

Good observation, PGR88. Sounds like the RATs determined early on that a direct confrontation at the hearing — Anita Hill style — would not achieve the desired effect, maybe because the GOP controls the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The RAT strategy is to play hurricane Florence. Put a giant storm over the Carolinas and let it sit and stew — drench those States. Have Anderson Cooper kneel in a puddle to show how deep the flood waters are.
Now we must think of the most likely conclusion the RATs are shooting for. What will that be?
Clearly a little delay — though frustrating to us — is not going to hurt us. I applaud Grassley for being patient. The longer this delay goes on, the more chance public sentiment will dramatically shift to our side.
My theory is she will appear very briefly so the hearing will seem inconclusive. She will play up here victimization and fake trauma. And that’s all the Fake News needs to keep the story in the headlines.
The RATs are taking the Russian hoax off the table somewhat over Kavanaugh. They are playing all their marbles now. But this story must end very soon, or the story will turn on the RATs.
In the end, the Republicans and Independents will turn out to support Trump & GOP no matter what, because we are patriots.
The RATs are hoping this controversy will stir up the radicals and low information animals on their side. Question is: will their shenanigans work or misfire?
