Freddie Mercury and Montserrate Caballe; "Barcelona"

She and Freddie put together an entire album. A fantastic combination of symphonic and operatic music--coupled with a touch of rock. Highly recommended.

I can’t believe Billboard Magazine spelled Freddie’s name wrong, and in their headline no less. Love the Barcelona performance.

Billboard did get it wrong. Didn’t notice that.

Didn’t she do a duet with Freddie Mercury? That wasn’t clear from the article. /s

She did do a duet "Barcelona" with Freddie Mercury. It's overdone pop-noisy, and just so-so listening-wise. Not my bag.

I prefer to listen to her earlier operatic arias on YouTube...what a powerful and melodic voice she had !

Rest in peace, lovely lady and great artiste.

I never heard the duet with Mercury. I first heard her in the famous recording of Turandot with Sutherland and Pavarotti conducted by Mehta. I have heard her in many things since. Great and beautiful voice.

"Montserrat with Sutherland, Pavarotti, Mehta"....wow, that's "name-dropping" of the most magnificently-powerful kind !!!

I'm going to see if I can find the recording of that Turnadot aria on YouTube.

Gracias, gracias, gracias !

Montserrat and her son and husband, a Spanish tenor. She has a daughter, also a singer.

One of the most talented singers and performers of all time. He would still be performing today if not for his lifestyle. Sad.
