ESPNs Monday Night Football Countdown team should probably stick to sports after angering an entire town over their choice of chicken wings.
The crew was in Buffalo, N.Y., for the Buffalo Bills-New England Patriots matchup and decided to host a pre-game segment revolving around the citys pride and joy Buffalo wings.
However, the segment, titled Whats your sauce, did not please native Buffalonians. Instead of featuring a local establishment for its true Buffalo flavor, the commentators had Applebees, which was sponsoring the show.

ok
Too bad an angry mob didn't just drag them out into the parking lot and kick them to death. /j
I hate ESPN, but when those “local” places sponsor the show, their wings can be showcased on it.
lol
Unbelievable. Like going to Santa Fe and eating at Taco Bell.
More likely none of the local places were willing to pay as much as Applebees for product placement.
I hate the whole “sponsorship” BS that ESPN is dialing up to 1 million with its new, awful version of Monday Night Football. If an adult man named “Booger” commentating the game from a little car on the sideline wasn’t bad enough, now EVERYTHING is sponsored. We’re talking the halftime show “brought to you by Genesis” or the unnecessary “musical guest” segments or even the pregame featuring garbage chain chicken wings. There is simply no authenticity left to this broadcast product.
How dumb!!!!!!! Always go with the local fares, it feels and shows you have interest in the local situation. There ain’t no way Applebee’s wings would be better than some local place.
However, it was incredibly tone-deaf for the ESPN crew to go to Applebees for buffalo wings in BUFFALO!
It would be like making a trip to Portland, ME and then going to the Red Lobster. Or going to this place in New York City for pizza!
And “Rollerball” was just supposed to be a movie :)
Remember when stadiums were named after the TEAMS?
FU ESPN. Mid major dumba$$es

Clicked the link.
Sbarro’s, dominos, pizza “hut”, little Caesar’s, Papa John’s...
NO.
Not when you were eating HOME MADE Sicilian pizza at 6.
Important part “which was sponsoring the show”. You don’t think they do those segments for fun do you? It’s all about the dollas.
I'll go out on a limb here and guess this has something to do with why they were at Applebee's.
I have no idea what’s going on during NFL telecasts since I refuse to watch but I’ve noticed something similar is happening in baseball where they are now inserting split screen ads during almost any time out. Soon it will be: “This next pitch brought to you by Gillette”. Really pathetic.
On the other hand, if they would switch to almost all “during inning” ads, and eliminate the between innings ads, we could maybe reduce the time it takes to play a normal game to under 3 and a half hours. Which would be nice.
This was the worse (mid game ad)
I would be okay with having ads on the field and during the standing around time if they just eliminated all the dang commercials that slow down the game already. It’s always in addition to, never replacing. I hate to admit it, but soccer had it right by refusing to stop the action for ads. They might look like Indy race cars now out there, but at least the game itself, wasn’t ruined by ads.
that’s like going to Olive Garden in Rome to get “Italian” food ...
