CIA intercepted Congressional emails about whistleblowers in 2014

The Inspector General expressed concern about “potential compromise to whistleblower confidentiality” and “chilling effect”

Newly-declassified documents show the CIA intercepted sensitive Congressional communications about intelligence community whistleblowers.

The intercepts occurred under CIA Director John Brennan and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. The new disclosures are contained in two letters of “Congressional notification” originally written to key members of Congress in March 2014, but kept secret until now.

In the letters, then-Intelligence Community Inspector General Charles McCullough tells four key members of Congress that during “routine counterintelligence monitoring of Government computer systems,” the CIA collected emails between Congressional staff and the CIA’s head of whistleblowing and source protection. McCullough states that he’s concerned “about the potential compromise to whistleblower confidentiality and the consequent ‘chilling effect’ that the present [counterintelligence] monitoring system might have on Intelligence Community whistleblowing.”

Would some expert remind us, who was president during these illegal intercepts?

Blackmail... the CIA probably has incriminating information on every single member of Congress from their electronic surveillance program.

“Congressional oversight” of intelligence agencies is a joke when the intelligence agencies can just subvert congress using their domestic spying apparatus

Heh, you think they would let us do that?

We screwed up when we didn’t immediately call for jail time for the ranking officers when the spooks got caught spying illegally on every American citizen, all of the time. Maybe that would have nipped it in the bud. By now, they have a couple decades of blackmail stockpiled on everyone in the country.

It would take Tsar Bomba over D.C. to accomplish that.

If i were the CIA id do the same thing. Congress is a joke. At most they would have Gowdy say something tough, or release a statement about how outraged they are.
Congress could impeach the director. Congress could literally disband the CIA in an afternoon and the White House, nor the Supreme Court could do a thing to stop it.

So yeah, I’d do it too as supine as Congress is lately. And laugh while I did it.

*************

Nobody in Washington is ever held accountable or punished for anything. Everyone is deeply concerned, appalled, or ready to investigate but nothing ever happens.

Its the way of the Swamp.

There will be no serious investigation, prosecution, or punishment for these “civil servants”.

Spit.

thanks, greeneyes

“What was going on when Khoshoggi MOGI was the narrative? Senator Grassley after more than 4 years finally got declassified the documentation that CIA was “hacking” Congresscritters to find out about whistleblowers.

Clapper Had sent a letter to the Senator G advising of the crime, but then classified it so that it couldn’t be released. Both are violations/criminal actions. Release was pretty much ignored by the media derps.”
