President Donald Trump made his first visit to a war zone on Wednesday, receiving an enthusiastic reception from many US troops there -- some of whom may have run afoul of military rules.
Video footage and the written report of Trump's visit with service members in Iraq showed the President signing "Make America Great Again" hats and an embroidered patch that read "Trump 2020."
But troops' requests for the autographs could brush up against Department of Defense guidelines for political activities.
Those guidelines say that "active duty personnel may not engage in partisan political activities and all military personnel should avoid the inference that their political activities imply or appear to imply DoD sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of a political candidate, campaign, or cause."

LOL, If they asked Obama or Hillary to do it, CNN would be slobbering all over themselves. It would be great news for them to run for a week! Anything to make the troops happy. But next election time, if Trump runs their ballots will be pushed overboard or out the back of a C-5 over the ocean. If not they will arrive late, too late to be counted.

The Red MAGA hat is seen as an endorsement, different than just asking for a plain autograph. Autographing one of his books might be iffy also. (I don’t agree with this interpretation, but that’s what is being debated).

Does that mean he was courting my vote? Don’t think so, but to insane Democrats/Media, anything he does is political and anything we do is fascism.

They’re complaining about the footage of Trump signing a MAGA hat. Personal item and it was not a campaign event; it was an official visit as CinC.
When Gen Sherman was told he had to give the reporters deference he wanted to put them out at the front of the line going into battle so they could better report the action. He called them all spies and he was correct; then and now.
