New Jersey residents and those born in the Garden State will soon have the choice of selecting a gender-neutral option on their birth certificates.
The new law goes into effect Friday, and will include three birth certificate gender options: "female, male, or undesignated/nonbinary," according to the law's text.
The Babs Siperstein Law, as the legislation is called, is named after the lifelong N.J. resident and first transgender person to become a member of the Democratic National Committee, where she served until 2017.
Having a gender-neutral option will now give thousands of people in the state of New Jersey the power to self-identify, said Amanda Babine, director of policy and programs at the New York Transgender Advocacy Group. We find this choice to determine their own identity leads to an increase in well-being for the individual and a push towards creating more inclusive communities.
New Jersey will become the fourth state to add the gender-neutral option on birth certificates behind Oregon, California and Washington. Earlier this month, New York City enacted such a law. At least three states and Washington, D.C., allow gender-neutral driver's licenses.

Thing 1. Thing 2.
The left enjoys destroying everything.
Whatever God or nature created, must be mistakes.
Humans know best.
There is no such thing as men, and no such thing as women. Differences occurred by mistakes.
Evolution is full of mistakes, and it’s up to humanity to correct those mistakes, or to at least recognize the mistakes and redefine them.
Humanity itself is full of mistakes. No sane mind would be so confused. Animals of lesser intelligence are not confused; they automatically and biologically perform as what they were created as. It’s humans that have taken it upon themselves that they know better; and that’s were the fault lies.
Are babies still “assigned sex at birth”? Because don’t hiu have to wait as babies grow up to see how they identify, before you check off sex on a birth certificate?
I feel sorry for these kids. This is child abuse.
Yes, it is child abuse. There will be a lot of them too as it has become a fad.
Ditto....they will never know they have been abused just for a lifelong voter base.
Cue the Church Lady. Well, isnt that special?
Remind me to never move to a state that doesn’t understand there are only 2 genders and it isn’t possible with the current medical knowledge to change the DNA and all the various body parts and curves.

I swear people are just plain crazy! We used to grow up and turn into respected adults... these people don’t know how to grow up... how do they live with themselves!
If moms can have their kids killed after birth, they certainly can order an immediate sex-change operation after birth, so why the need for a gender-neutral birth certificate?
I know.
Maybe the mom just wants a little eunuch, or maybe a hermaphrodite. I’m sure she could order the necessary surgery. It is, after all, all about the woman’s choice.
I agree it’s a fad. Many of the “lesbian” princesses you see waltzing around are just joining in a fad with that BS also, IMHO. Little kids being little kids. They are very “slow”. It’s going to take them longer to be grownups. If they ever do.
Keep it up turn more states red ib 2020.
It is getting awfully tiring watching the moral guts ripped out of this country.
Does this gender neutral bill apply to the new governor Murphy? He’s ball-less so he could be considered “neutered”, a close cousin to “neutral gender”.
I’ve heard a similar consideration of him from a Jersey FRiend of mine.
Your statements undoubtedly correct but one must have huge mental problems proposing anything like this. If we had normal people working for child protective services anybody that failed to put down boy or girl would have child taken away asap.
