Newt Gingrich: Mueller tries desperately to continue bogus Russia collusion narrative against Trump
Fox News ^ | June 1, 2019 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 06/01/2019 10:40:11 AM PDT by jazusamo

Now-former Special Counsel Robert Mueller is trying to have it both ways.

When Mueller told reporters Wednesday that “if we had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said that,” he overstepped his bounds as a prosecutor.

Mueller was insinuating that President Trump has not been exonerated of wrongdoing, while refusing to explicitly declare the president guilty of any crime.

As Alan Dershowitz noted in The Hill, FBI Director James Comey was “universally criticized” for attempting a similar political dance during the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

At the time, Comey had said that there was no clear evidence that Clinton intended to break the law, but there was evidence that she was “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information (which can be ruled a crime) while she was secretary of state.

In Mueller’s case, it was much worse. Dershowitz rightly pointed out that Mueller “went beyond the conclusion of his report and gave a political gift to Democrats in Congress who are seeking to institute impeachment proceedings against President Trump.”

Mueller’s report said there was no evidence President Trump broke the law. Mueller’s mouth said there was no proof Trump didn’t.

The problem is, Mueller’s verbal statement distorted the role of a prosecutor and flipped a core concept of the American justice system on its head – the idea that people are innocent until proven guilty.

~snip~

Mueller is making the political suggestion that President Trump should be impeached on allegations of obstruction of justice for which Mueller and his team of hot-shot lawyers found no proof. This is a clear example of a prosecutor who is trying to get an outcome regardless of evidence. In a desperate pursuit to keep the bogus Russia collusion narrative alive, Mueller is turning to Soviet-style tactics.

After watching Mulehead’s performance at his CYA press conference this week I am convinced that he is feeble and probably has been for some time.

If he dared go before Congress he’d be mincemeat, and he knows it.

Newt Gingrich: Mueller tries desperately to continue bogus Russia collusion narrative against Trump

While of course completely IGNORING the increasing body of evidence that it was actually the DEMS who had colluded with the Russians!

“Innocent until proven guilty.”

After all the time and money spent they were not able to find President Trump guilty of anything, but they just can’t admit he is innocent and the whole fiasco had no basis whatsoever.

EXACTLY SO. - As I said elsewhere, IF I could interview him I would ask hem (with no evasions & equivocation accepted), “When did you figure out that there was NOTHING criminal to investigate?” and “WHY didn’t you immediately shut-down your investigation when you figured out that you were just wasting time, effort & a HUGE PILE of taxpayer’s money, to NO good effect?”

The failed Mueler effort and the present impeachment talk are but futile vociferous attempts to make President Trump abandon attempts to mount a count a counter assault that will splii Democrat blood, guts and brains.

The Rats know all too well that if a truly effective and prolonged assault is made, the party and the progressive utopian hope is dead.

There is no alternative but to attack and kill.

No MEALY MOUTHED KUMBAYA MOLLY CODDLING. NO MERCY, NO QUARTER. NO COMPASSION FOR GIRLS.

The objective is total destruction, for ever.

Yep, and it wasn’t because they didn’t try because his entire team were leftists.

I also don’t like his exaggerating the Russian interference and saying there was “insufficient evidence” of collusion. He obviously found there was no collusion but wouldn’t say it that way.

Bullshit doublespeaking white shoe biznatch, name the last person the BFI ever "exonerated"! Whoever has OIG oversight in the Senate should subpoena Bob in context of those ongoing investigations into the "Insurance Policy". Bob is going to have to testify, and he'll be lucky to escape prison.

If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller declared. Mueller, however, added that his report was also guided by "principles of fairness." "It would be unfair to potentially accuse somebody of a crime when there can be no court resolution of the actual charge," he said. "That was Justice Department policy. Those were the principles under which we operated." "And from them, we concluded that we would, would not reach a determination one way or the other about whether the president committed a crime," Mueller said. "That is the office's final position and we will not comment on any other conclusions or hypotheticals about the president."

Correct, if they’d have found any evidence of collusion we can bet the farm he’d have used it.

Very true. In fact, I have a whole section devoted to that alone on my FR Home page.

Note: It's not yet in the newly created Table of Contents. I just today added the ToC.

My initial take on the Mueller Press Conference was that the driving force behind it was his FEAR of facing questions from Republicans in either a House or Senate committee meeting.

The Mueller calculation goes something like this:

1. The Republican controlled Senate will never call him to testify.

2. The Dem House would only call him if there is political capital to be gained by doing so. This could be a risky move for both the Dems and Mueller since he would be forced to answer the DREADED Republican questions.

3. The obvious solution: Hand the Dems their political capital in a news conference and declare that you will not be testifying before Congress.

I still think my original view was correct.

He delivered as planned. He had to lie to do it. He effectively reversed his position within 24 hours but the Sound Bites are safely stored in bins at CNN, MSNBC and the rest of MSM - ammunition for the never ending Get Trump War.

Just now added that section on Mueller to the table of contents.

Mueller said that the indicted Russians were “innocent until proven guilty” but then proceeded to declare that Trump is guilty until proven innocent. So the Russians now have more rights than the American president.

Mueller is nothing but a cowardly POS. Anyone with half a brain could tell that Mueller didn’t even write his own speech and wasn’t even familiar with its contents. He also sounded very nervous and even scared.

If someone had yelled “boo” he would have wet his pants.
