They filed for bankruptcy? Oh boo-hoo. After they have transferred billions of dollars first into Swiss Bank accounts.
2000 lawsuits? There’s gonna be a lot of pee-od lawyers.
This is beyond stupid. One can extrapolate this kind of insanity and next thing you know they will want us to pay reparations for slavery. Oh wait a minute.
I don't hold drug companies responsible. I hold the junkies...and maybe doctors...responsible.These lawsuits are solely meant to line the pockets of politicians and lawyers.
I like the Billion $ wire transfer by one of the family members that was discovered.
Pain Management Research Screaming as it dies just like we all will because we can’t get pain meds that won’t leave us without a life long addiction.
Kind of defeats the purpose that these lawsuits are supposed to enforce on these companies.
What purpose does opiates have ? Other than SERIOUS PAIN ? none
Oxycontin is simply a time release form of oxycodone a powerful narcotic pain reliever and very effective when prescribed and used properly. Oxycodone has been used for many years prior to its formulation as a time released medication.
The problem with this drug is not the manufacture Purdue pharmaceutical but physicians writing prescriptions for it in an unethical manner for money.
Physicians know full well of the dangers of this drug when used improperly. If they prescribed improperly it is on them and not Perdue pharmaceutical.
Oddly there is a place for this drug at high doses in terminal cancer patients for pain control at end stages. They will become addicted but this is of little importance as they are terminal and need pain control.
It is not a bad drug but has been abused by unethical doctors that just write the prescription for a pay day.
I once worked in home care therapy for end stage cancer victims. Some of these patients were taking huge doses of morphine for pain control. They were addicted but it was of no importance. They were going to die soon. Our therapy allowed them to be home pain free with their loving family.
Drugs are not inherently bad, even the hard narcotics. The misuse of drugs is what is bad.

I must say that OxyContin greatly helped my wife in her losing fight with lung cancer. Why must a necessary drug be hung out to dry because of abuse?
How does a government lawyer who is paid a set salary, typically lower than the private sector, and who cannot take bonuses benefit from this case?
They should have just classified OxyContin as a vaccine and enjoyed their complete umbrella protection from liability.
