When GWB was running back in 2000 a poll came out which concluded that Warren Beatty would beat him. In fact almost any well known Hollywood type would beat almost any politician in public polling at any given time.
Polling is even more useless now than it was in 2016. Trump supporters who were close mouthed about their support for the President back then are even more so now.

An aardvark could announce entry into the Democrat presidential primary and the MSM polls would show the aardvark
beating Trump because Dems would not display any embarrassment in voting for an aardvark. It would be an improvement over the current field of Dem candidates.
I think they have gone past over sampling democrats to just making things up. Why waste the time and money trying to find data that fits the narrative when you can just type what you want and call it a poll.

They were as right as they ever are, pretty close but not exact.
What no one had was Trump narrowly winning Michigan and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. That was what led the oddsmakers (especially those like the Princeton guy relying on statistical models but who had no political experience) to be so wrong.
For every Romney Republican that Bloomberg picks up, he’ll lose a Sanders/Warren democrat. The Dem spectrum goes from Communist to Bloomberg, and that’s too broad for a political party.
Trump should just throw in the towel. It’s over.
