Held the title of worst president ever.
Then, lost that title to Obama.
Couldn’t hold on to the title of president. Then, not even the title for worst president.
If ever there was southerner with zero common sense it was Jimmy.
You have pretty much encapsulated it.
I don’t think there was a ‘bad bone’ in his body.
He was just very much ‘over his head’ as President.
He’s done a lot of good work in his larger life, and I forgive him for the things he hasn’t understood.
Stagflation. He gave us Stagflation. Not a fan of this bitter ex President. Might have been a bigger fan if he had gone about his humanitarian work without taking every opportunity to take shots at republican Presidents.

I think that the ‘worst president ever’ was a toss-up between LBJ and Clinton.
Clinton - with his ‘wife’s’ influence - was probably the most corrupt, in terms of what they’ll ultimately be shown to have cost us.
He fell and broke a hip a month or so ago. I had three months, so I may be out $10 here soon.
Not being a vindictive person, I personally don’t have anything against him as a human being. His politics are cringe-worthy, but so are those of most of my relatives. He is in my prayers.

I’ve seen a lot of folks say he’s a good man.
Sorry, good men don’t do interviews with Playboy, and even if they have a brain hemorrhage and do, they don’t spout off in public about lusting for women in their heart with a wife at home.
They don’t chum it up with dictators who are responsible for many deaths and the oppression of their people.
The don’t resolve a nuclear confrontation by making an agreement that allows a nation to go full speed ahead developing the nuclear weapons to threaten 100s of millions of humans, including our citizens.
They don’t make agreements that severely harm US interests, and in Iran and Panama.
Carter opposed the Shah and ushered in an Islamic Caliphate there. The Iranian people were seriously harmed by that.
Then when the lease was nearing the end in Panama, Carter didn’t lift his little finger to negotiate and extension, thus ushering in China as the operations manager of the Canal Zone.
Reagan freed up people, and Carter did his best to see them beaten down.

By no stretch of the imagination...
I was born when Truman was president but the first one I remember is Ike. Carter surely was the one who provided the best comic relief. Who of sufficient age cannot forget brother Billie, the beer swilling buffoon or Secretary of Agriculture Butts who was overheard by a reporter on a plane telling one of his good old boys about the only three things a black male really wants. Even this old white boy appreciates a warm place to drop that duece.

He was a terrible president, and thankfully for the country he was soundly defeated by Ronald Reagan in 1980. That said, he does have a sense of decency that Democrats lack in spades today. He allowed for an orderly and peaceful transition of power between himself and Reagan in January of 1981. That’s more than what we can say for two future Democrats presidents and their handing over of power to their Republican successors.
