“his wife is Chinese and she is related to chinese businessmen. “

They already do hugely benefit financially from ties to China, and who knows if all of their relationships are on the up-and-up. (Have hard they are questionable ethically/legally.)

Whatever McConnell decides will be what Trump wants. Don’t kid yourselves.

Yeah, that shitbag Graham wants to avoid witnesses etc because “this is tearing the country apart”.

He doesn't realize, as he doesn't breathe the same air as most of us peons, the country is already torn apart. And to his detriment doesn't understand many of us while supporting Mr. Trump won't vote for down ticket Republicans who support the "quick deal"!

It was not a REAL with witnesses. It was a deal between Trent Lott and Tom Daschle to put on a faux trial and then vote to acquit. I watched it as well as the House Impeachment hearings.

I am not saying it will happen again, but it sure looks that way based upon McConnell and Graham statements today.

Impeachment alone or impeachment with a guilty verdict at the trial in the Senate?

It’s interesting, I was also thinking that if Trump’s Presidency is nullified, that is seen as never been valid, then he could run for two more terms.

If it’s impeachment alone, that would drive the dems even crazier.

Trump finishing out this term and running in 2020 and 2024.

No. Don’t do it. Acquittal does nothing to prove Trump’s innocence while giving the slime party a pass to do it again.

“Trump serves 2016 2017 2018 and 3/4ths of 2019.”

Trump wasn’t President until Jan 20, 2017.

Do “they” have to continue once the House of Reps. make a decision? End this political morass now......a worse travesty against the Constitution, couldn’t be imagined. Give President Trump a medal for Presidential Achievement and Bravery Under Fire.

Exactly, and don’t forget about Mitt Romney, aka Pierre Delecto. Who elected that slug anyway? Oh yea, it was Utah. Shame on you Utah for slinging that slime ball on the rest of the country. What the hell were you thinking?

Absolutely nothing can legitimize that damn circus.

The Republicans have all done a great job, but those drooling dems need to be made to disappear.

Trump serves 12 years if impeached and removed.

That's unconstitutional. The Constitution says that no one may serve more than two terms as president.

7 and 3/4 years is only 1 term due to removal.

11 and 3/4 years is 2 terms.

I know math is hard.

U.S Constitution - 22nd Amendment:

Section 1. "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

I know. English is hard.

A conviction of the impeachment can include the condition that the impeached may longer hold any office of trust or profit in government. The Senate should have done this when they removed Alcee Hastings from the bench - instead, the House is now stuck with that pustule for the rest of his life. They would almost certainly include this condition in any conviction of Trump. Not only would he never be able to hold the office of President again, he would be lucky to avoid subsequent imprisonment in New York State on phony tax evasion charges.

Amendments cannot modify a Constitution.

Is anybody here not subservient to communists?

I’m also optimistic about the percentage of honorable Americans with common sense.

**************

Years ago I would have been inclined to agree with you. But the country has changed in very profound ways in recent decades. Our fellow countrymen seem to be gullible and easily manipulated. Note that we keep electing and re-electing the same old lying, self-serving and deceitful scoundrels again and again. That’s not indicative of common sense or respect for honor in my humble opinion.

That said, I hope you’re right.

Black's Law Dictionary.
Amendments cannot modify a Constitution.

Take it up with the Framers. Black's Law Dictionary does not supersede the Constitution.

The 22nd Amendment says that no one may be elected to the office of president more than twice.

So you universalky invalidate all legal contracts like the Constitution. Sweet.

Stalin & Marx loves you conservatives, you make their job too easy.

So you can amend your home mortgage to quit paying on even years. Sweet.
