The theory of the Spanish Flu is that many died from a Cytokine Storm. Same thing killed my healthy young student in the family who was told she had a minor case of the flu.
They have upped the quarantine to 16 cities with a population of 46 million or over an 8th of the US population. Every few hours they add more cities. Let that sink in:

The virus shows no fever in many people and you would have to test every one over a 14 day period to be sure and then start over.
Yeah, not from eating some seafood. Weaponized virus that escaped or was let out somehow.

Despite all of us thinking how authoritarian China is, it is usually pretty laissez faire. Local police often just kind of stand around and don’t do anything. If you have the PLA show up, you know the government is taking something seriously.

This virus is unique. It spreads like the common cold and you can spread it to others before you even know you are sick. And with 14 day incubation, the real numbers are just now emerging.
Lots of people making fun of this, on this thread and others.

Flu is 1 day before symptoms.
You only test people who are sick. You don’t test an entire population.
And it seems right now there’s a shortage of test kits.
Just read that he UK tested 14 people who came back negative.
Remember though, viral infections cause the symptoms. If you don't have any symptoms then you don't have much virus. If your symptoms are very mild with the virus, then it's not a very lethal virus.
If every person in China keeled over at the same time, would that cause an earthquake in the USA?

But as I keep saying... are we talking about a disease found in nature because someone ate an animal..or are we talking about a bioweapon that could have very different outcome and parameters.
China claiming it came from bats in nature ..(nothing to do with a bioweapon)
Their response and involving the PLA makes me think they know it came from that bioweapon facility
Many Chinese have various forms of the coronavirus or flu. So explain, since this is just a bunch of hype and hysteria and its just the regular flu:
Why the Chinese government suddenly deployed their regular army (PLA)?
Why they have quarantined 11-40 million people?
Why they are digging up the roads to make passage impossible?
Why they are ruining their economy with the quarantine?

A quarantine of 40 million people would probably require the PLA. No surprise there. PLA is the easiest and simplist solution and already on the payroll.
Whether it’s a weaponized virus or natural, I don’t know.
