What is with the scare quotes around "future"? Is Palestine currently a state by any real definition?

I agree that there is no historical justification for a Palestinian state.

That does not change the facts on the ground that the resident Muslim population of Israel will not accept the existence of an Israeli state and will likely try to kill any leader of a Muslim state that makes peace with Israel.

Any practicing Muslim can not deny the commands in the Koran to kill the Jews or the teachings in the Koran that Jews are evil incarnate.

The Jews will never be at peace with their neighbors.

The only chance for peace within the borders of Israel is to expel the Muslim population.

Well, that’s never going to happen. As Golda Meir famously said, “The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” She also said that there will only be peace in the Mideast when Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews.

Even if they were willing to entertain the idea of this agreement, they could never live up to its terms. DOA.
