Longtime influential conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced on his show Monday he was diagnosed with "advanced lung cancer," a shocking announcement in which he said he will miss shows for treatment.
“This day has been one of the most difficult days in recent memory, for me, because I’ve known this moment was coming,” Limbaugh said. “I’m sure that you all know by now that I really don’t like talking about myself and I don’t like making things about me… one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program is that there has been an incredible bond that had developed between all of you and me.”

This is devastatingly sad news, best wishes Rush.
Didn't Rush quit cigarettes over a decade ago? Seems like he's been describing his formerly nicotine stained hands for a number of years.
Perhaps it was the cigars that pushed his lung cells over the edge.
Rush used a room filter system. Very little smoke.
My longtime neighbor just received a similar diagnosis, though he never smoked. The reason you rarely hear of stage 1, 2 or 3 is there are no symptoms in the early stages.
Urgent and sincere prayers for Rush, his entire family as well as for my neighbor, Paul, just diagnosed last week with the same.
No, it isn’t.
I’ve said that about cancer, diabetes, heart disease and several other diseases. There’s too much money to be made off disease and death. Millions of jobs, trillions from meds, equipment and facilities.
My parents and one sister died of lung cancer...all smokers. My only brother died of a massive heart attack, and my oldest sister of a stroke. They were smokers too. I'm the last one in my family...never smoked, but have health problems too.

Absolutely right. He has had a profound impact on our world.
I believe some misunderstood his message during the 2016 campaign; but, in my opinion he kept the crazy idea that an outsider could get elected on an absolutely even keel. He did not make an endorsement until the nomination was complete, but I always knew for sure that he recognized a kindred spirit--a fellow genius showman--in Trump.
I am not sure DJT would have been elected without Rush.

My cousin’s husband also had HPV-caused throat cancer, had surgery, rad/chemo and survives.
I always thought Jerry Doyle would have been great portraying on film, “The Stainless Steel Rat”, aka “Slippery Jim diGriz” from the Harry Harrison books.
Son was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was 22. Never smoked. Four years later, he’s still around.
I learned more about lung cancer than I ever wanted to know.
I am so sad to hear this.

I’m shocked as I assumed Rush would have had regular checkups, chest x-rays, etc, to watch after the things that afflict one in their 50s and 60s. Maybe not...maybe he lived life as it came and didn’t visit the doctor unless he noticed a problem. I sure hope that it’s not progressed to the point that treatment is ineffective. It’s been a great 30 years listening to Rush.
Please take some comfort knowing that you have an amazing and committed support team.
