Let us recall that Sandra Fluke’s infamous fatuous testimony (which Mitt Romney and his campaign lacked the intelligence or courage to dispute) was not actual testimony but a fiction, a pantomime staged in a room dressed to look like a hearing.
At that time the GOP controlled the House but, of course, the eunuch John Boehner was Speaker.
The GOP should stage a similar production for Reade. CNN and MSNBC would wail but dare not be left out of televising it. No chairman, no Dem majority, no rules.
I agree. He is good at dissecting things; esp if they are funny. He knows funny.
From my occasional listening, Shapiro is mostly pro-Trump, but he sometimes throws in condescending criticisms that run something like this: "If he would only reign in his speech/tweets he'd have a much better chance of winning over the soccer moms."
I weigh Trump's status as a self-made workaholic billionaire and POTUS against Shapiro's status as a very good student at Harvard Law and a decent talk show host, and Shapiro does not appear to me to be in a position to condescend to Trump. He is a position where he can disagree, but not where he can condescend.
However, Shapiro a very bright guy, good at quickly analyzing complex situations, and I enjoy having to keep up with his rapid speech. Also, he is only 36, so he brings a welcome non-geriatric viewpoint to the table.
Shapiro supports Trump now, but his support strikes me as being very soft. I don’t think it would take much to flip Shapiro back the other way. I think Shapiro is a good person to have on our side especially on some issues, but I’m still wary of him.
I agree with you about Shapiro. However, my husband has recently discovered him during our quarantine and now listens to his podcasts every day. I keep reminding him he was a never Trumper, along with Levin, Beck, and most National Review writers, a fact that I’ve never forgotten.
There are two brands of those. The ones that will support Trump if he does things they have supported long before he ever showed up, and the ones like Bill Kristol, etc. that oppose Trump even when he does enact policies they’ve claimed to support decades simply because it was Trump that did it. Shapiro is in the former category.
