“When half the working class is facing economic devastation and the other half still has to show up to work, are we really all in this together?”
Absolutely not!
The new class divide is the old class divide. No government employees have been laid off.
Ok, whats he willing to give up to be equal with everyone else.
The constant drumbeat from celebs and politicians is “we’re in this together”. Meanwhile, the privileged class has everything they need a home. Their own workout room, rec room, movie room, etc.
‘eff them, each and everyone of them. Every time I hear the sad music and the “uplifting” message of some wealthy idiot telling me to forgo my liberty, because we’re in this together, I just want to projectile vomit.
This absolutely checks out. And it also tracks with how upset people are with the shutdown/lifting of shutdown. The richer you are, the more willing you are to just shelter in place. Especially true of rich people without jobs( housewives and inheritors).
Id like to see a comparison between how many private company employees have lost jobs, due to China Virus, to how many govt employees have lost jobs.
Also large business vs small business
The author is a virtue signalling ass. Appreciating those whose day to day work form the links in the supply chain(s) is fine, but the sneering condescension in his final paragraph shows he believes he is in the “enlightened elite”.
Lockdown Exposes the Machinations of EVIL Megalomaniacs.
The ultimate "non-essential" employees.
I think he is very subtly saying to end the shutdowns.
When it snows, government tells their non-essential employees to stay home.
Why not lay off these non-essential government employees?
Right you are. Government workers get paid. Private contractors are shut down and workers are laid off. That is the current class divide.
This guy really gets it. I’m hoping that “working class” people will remember in November and put aside habitually voting for Democrats and send President Trump back for four more years.
For his part, I think Trump needs to push “back to work”.
Here on the Central California coast the city of Monterey just laid off 40 employees. Without the tax revenue from the tourist trade the city is running out of money. Big financial draw is meeting the pension and healthcare obligations for retired city workers. CALPERS the state run government employee pension program was already underfunded and will soon be a trillion dollars in the red. Whose going to be stuck with that bill?
You couldn't PAY me to move to any BLUE state or City!
“eff them”
Off them. How do we get THEM off US?
535++++ vs. 330 MILLION How did Hitler, Stalin, Mao do it?
I’m not sure if I completely agree with your assessment.
I’m not rich, but my wife is a stay-at-home mom. And she has been against the shutdown from the beginning.
