Tyson Foods will be discounting prices on certain products for the remainder of this week.
The price reductions will vary, but Tyson told CNNsome beef items sold to grocery stores, restaurants and other customers could be discounted by 20% to 30% through Saturday.
Were doing this because we want to help keep beef on family tables across our nation, especially as our beef plants return from reduced levels of production, said Gary Mickelson, the companys senior director of public relations.
Tysons announcement comes as American grocery store price tags are soaring. Overall, the price of groceries grew 2.6%, including seasonal adjustments, in April. That was the biggest increase from one month to the next since 1974, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Tyson said the discounts will be on items such as chuck and round roasts, as well as some other ground beef products.

Is Tyson meat from China? Or from USA?
Its a logistics issue. Pre-pandemic, the country ate about 1/2 of its meals out. Now, that number is probably in the 10% range. Suddenly lots more food need to go through grocery stores and the grocery store supply chain that isnt set up for the volume. On the other side of the equation, the logistics chain that supplied restaurants and cafeterias has seen a huge drop in business.

I’m one of those folks< Mercat. However, I’m fortunate enough to live where there are a lot of people who run cattle and own pigs & chickens. It’s always a good idea to be friendly with your neighbors, but some times are especially advantageous. :-)

Central planners are often frustrated in their ongoing attempts to screw up free markets, which is why they constantly crave more power to do so.
I just heard that Schooner Tuna is reducing the price of Schooner Tuna by 50 cents per can.
Pray to God but keep rowing to shore - here comes the pain.
If ranchers are forced to cut herds thats a 2 year recovery before things get back to normal. Personally beef has been jacked up since the last drought.. proecessors and retailers raised prices but never lowered them when herd numbers returned to normal.
