Record-breaking coronavirus rates can’t stop these partiers from continuing to rage.
Despite surging COVID-19 cases, Florida beaches were packed with maskless revelers over New Year’s weekend. Photos of Fort Lauderdale Beach show nary a face covering and many a bikini as people continued to party despite the ongoing pandemic.
On Jan. 3 at Miami’s Fontainebleau pool area, heavy daytime partying was photographed despite the state’s coronavirus dashboard reporting another 10,603 cases that day — the fifth consecutive day it reported more than 10,000 cases.

2x of my 20-something year old nephews spent New Years in FL. From their social media, they mixed with some pretty girls and partied like the young like to party. Enjoy it while you got it.
IIRC from our years in FL, the freezing point of H2O is 52 degrees F in FL. :-)

Amazingly the regular flu just disappeared. I think they are counting all flu cases as COVID as part of the scam.
Floridians are really tired of the media and of masks. It really is almost normal here only fewer people than ever turn on the news any more and no one wants to talk about or hear about covid.

Name and town, name and town, name and town! (A little Bill O’Reilly lingo). I want to know the name and town of EACH CASE of covid in these “rising numbers”. Don’t just don’t throw numbers and statistics out there. We need accountability. And while we’re at it, where are all the flu cases?
He’s already a target. The left in Florida...which unfortunately exists in places like Jacksonville, broward County, etc ...is accusing DeSantis of killing Floridians with his refusal to shut down and are calling for his removal.
In reality, of course, we’ve had fewer cases (i.e., positive tests) and fewer deaths than either of the two most locked down states, CA and NY, both of which have smaller populations than FL.
But they had DeSantis with a passion because he’s no nonsense and won’t let them intimidate him.

I'm an RN in a hospital on the west coast of Florida, very close to very popular beaches.
We are not overloaded with Covid. Not even close. We closed the dedicated covid unit months ago and never reopened it. Our ICU is not overloaded, and it's not full of covid patients; only a small fraction.

Gosh, to read that you'd think there were bodies piling up in the streets. You can search and find that ICUs typically run at 70% to 80% utilization. Check out:

And you'll see that across the state of Florida ICU utilization is running right at about ... 80%. A little on the high side but probably not unexpected given the state's popularity with older retirees.
Positive case numbers are up because of sensational "reporting" like this inducing more people to get tests. I'm starting to believe that a certain percentage of test kits are rigged to report positive regardless. With an unscrupulous thumb on the scales in that way certain players in the game could ramp up/down the fear anytime they wanted to. I'd love to be able to get a few dozen test kits each from all the major manufacturers/distributors and test them in clean conditions on pure saline. I wonder what percentage would still come back positive.
