Yes it is misleading. Add in traffic collisions almost 50 died, then throw in COVID, and the numbers are nearly cut in half.

Yes, these stats are pretty meaningless unless broken down into categories. I’m sure some of them were killed in car crashed during chases, etc.

OK so the number killed by firearms is down and the number killed in traffic related accidents was up slightly. What caused the incease?
I mean, the older statistics also have those things. We could check if they are about the same percentages, but the violent vs accidental death percentages haven’t changed that much over the years. The one big different this year is COVID, which killed a lot more officers than the Flu did in prior years.
