Pitch forks and torches are really needed now. And I don’t be that surprised if the entire TX government is swept out by this. Way to go guys.

A third of the ERCOT board members live out of state
—snip—
The ERCOT website biographies prior to being pulled down listed ERCOT Chair Sally Talbert as a former state utility regulator in Michigan. Records indicate she lives in Williamston, Michigan.

ERCOT Vice Chair Peter Cramton was listed as an economics professor at the University of Cologne in Germany and at the University of Maryland, the website biography said.
—snip—
Terry Bulger, who lives int in Wheaton, Ill., according to the ERCOT website.
Raymond Hepper was listed as a retired general counsel and officer for a New England company. Records indicate he now lives in Maine.
Vanessa Anesetti-Parra was listed as serving as vice president of regulatory and compliance for an energy company. A social media page lists her home as Toronto.

I’m noticing the media has begun a full-scale smear of Texas because of this weather event.

The media REALLY doesn’t like Texas lately, for some odd reason.

A Kitchenaid mixer won’t draw any current unless it’s on, so unplugging it does nothing to save energy. So that tweet is kind of stupid. I can see a DeWalt battery charger or something like that drawing a small amount of current all the time, but not a mixer! Sheesh.

That doesn’t excuse them from mismanaging the grid. A battery charger isn’t going to be responsible for rolling blackouts.

FYI, Mr. ERCOT, my (wife’s) Kitchenaid mixer was not bought during the fake pandemic. We’ve had it for 30 years. Still runs like new.

Question for fine Texas patriots...does the Railroad Commission oversee this agency?

Records show the two top office holders of the 15-member board of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), live out-of-state. Three other ERCOT board members also appear to live thousands of miles from Texas. The thought of some Californian voting on our energy market doesn’t sit well.

Come on Man - 'elites' don't have to live anywhere near common citizens... ya gotta know that, right?

I don’t know if they could be any more clueless. The “phantom” load is a fraction a Watt, as low as a few millionths of a Watt. Meanwhile people trying to stay warm are using a 10,000 Watt auxiliary heater instead of the useless heat exchanger. No comparison, and a complete waste of time unplugging them.

ERCOT is a creature of the Texas legislature. Where its management and board live is immaterial.

Before the deep freeze I filled up containers with water and shut off the water main to help prevent bursting pipes. Didn’t expect to lose power with the long outages however.
A little rough but I survived ok. Even went walking in the snowy park 3 days in a row and I’m 64 years old. Not bragging, just saying we gotta be prepared and flexible plus adaptable.
With that said the incompetence of the electric power providers deserves a thorough scrutiny. Back in 1983 here in DFW we had a similar deep freeze Arctic event with no power outages issues. Unacceptable and unnecessary what has occurred here.

I said it before and now I'll say it again.

Welcome to Texas' energy deregulation.

Texans were scammed by it, now they're paying for it.

It's both sad and humorous to see all the people freezing who were laughing at and pointing fingers at those stupid Californians for having their power turned off to prevent fires.

AKA karma.

Others have already said it, but that was clearly written by a person with zero knowledge of electricity.

Like an appliance is gonna sit there, consuming current 24/7 jus ‘caus it’s plugged in, but doing nothing.

A kitchenAide mixer is not used once at my house. The poster who wrote that must not cook, either they have a chef/housekeeper or they eat out. A mixer is used everyday.

Reads and sounds like a normal government screwup. No one knows who is responsible for this. Must be the others fault cause it sure is not mine.
