Tim Anderson, a criminal defense attorney who lives in Virginia Beach, doesn’t run from controversy. He sprints toward it, not only relishing what he can bring to the fight but the media attention that comes with it.
It’s impossible to ignore that many of Anderson’s political melees involve race, undoubtedly the reason that Anderson, who is white, has been branded as an outspoken Trump Republican.
But it’s his willingness to scrap that likely helped Anderson beat the establishment candidate from a prominent political family to win the Republican primary last week in the 83rd House District.
“Tim positioned himself as a fighter and I think the voters are looking for that this year,” said Brian Kirwin, a political consultant for Anderson.
Very few would have thought Anderson, 46, had a chance to beat Chris Stolle, a former state delegate whose siblings are Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin Stolle, Virginia Beach Sheriff Ken Stolle and State Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant.
Yet, unbeknownst to many, Anderson had a fighter’s chance. And he seized it, winning the primary by only 24 votes. After the election is certified by the state next week, Anderson will challenge Del. Nancy Guy, a Democrat, in November. The 83rd district represents parts of Norfolk and northwestern Virginia Beach.

Stolle was once the majority leader of the Virginia Senate and fought every attempt to stop the invasion of illegal aliens into Virginia.
As a result, the illegals poured into Virginia and were registered to vot by the democrats, illegally of course.
As a result, the hundreds of thousands of illegals flipped Virginia from solid red to permanent blue, with a big thanks to Stolle.
If he is certified next week he is going to need to win the general election by a lot more than 24 votes. Dems regularly carry around a lot more dead and/or departed votes in the trunks of their cars.
I wonder if any serious research has been done to get a legitimate explanation as to why “Republicans” love illegals.
I understand the cheap labor angle, but at some point that sponge gets saturated. There has to be something else there.

Rather than flip Virginia, I’d like to see the western counties come forward and say they want to become part of West Virginia and the counties to the south say they want to be in NC.
The VA State Senate isn’t up this year.
The state Senate is not up for election this year. All 40 seats are up in 2023. The best we can hope for in 2021 is to retake the House and get Winsome Sears elected as lieutenant governor.
