FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A military family is frustrated with the mold situation in their Fort Bragg home and turned to CBS 17 looking for help.
The problems date back to last February but really took off earlier this month.
Pointing to a photo of exposed fiberglass insulation and wall studs, Taylor Padgett described what was discovered covering them after the wallboard was removed by contractors just two days ago.
“All this black stuff here is mold from water damage,” she said.
Padgett said the mold found two days ago is an extension of the mold problems that burst forth earlier this month in her kids’ playroom.
She said by the time workmen got around to looking at the playroom problem in early August, it had gotten worse.

Follow the money ... Investigate Corvias, the property management company. (Oops, did I just write the name of the property management company? Leftist media wouldn't mention them.) Investigate woke generals in charge of these contracts.
Btw, this same problem affected my daughter, son-in-law and grandson at Ft. Bragg. After months without a resolution they moved off base - one week prior to being deployed on Biden's Afghanistan fluster cuck.
It’s not like mold can make you sick...
there is no mold in the homes of those who locked the
gates to Americans in Kabul.
just in their heads, infected with TREASON.
Lets hope they house any of the Afghani refugees in these deplorable conditions.
You’re right. It is good for the development of babies’ young lungs. It creates a healthy immune system, despite incessant coughing, sneezing and sinus infections.
Missed a word.
Lets hope they don’t house any of the Afghani refugees in these deplorable conditions.
Some mold doesn’t do much, but you’d have to test it to be sure of the situation. I doubt that they’d voluntarily test.
I do that lla eht emit.
I’d prefer not rolling any dice.
>>> It’s not like mold can make you sick...
Actually, it doesn’t. Not directly anyway.
Some molds HAVE been linked to various disease, but for the most part, it is usually not infectious to humans.
HOWEVER....
The body treats it like any other intruder... activating your immune system and contributing to an eventual allergenic response.
And, when the body’s immune system is in continual non-stop warfare, it is degraded and compromised.
So no... the mold doesn’t make you sick. It just makes you VULNERABLE to getting sick.
I feel badly for the military family who has been inconvenienced.
From the pictures it looks like what happens just about every time water gets into a structure. I have cleaned up much worse on numerous occasions. It is rarely dangerous or even causes difficulty for most people but it is a good idea to wear a respirator mask when you are cleaning it up. I prefer to spray it down with some bleach first.
To me it is a little hard to believe that this actually made the news. Where we live it is rare for any older home to not have a few spots where water has gotten in over the years and caused similar damage. The biggest problem that I saw in the pictures were rot and messed up sheetrock.

Quotes from your CDC link:
-— “Large mold infestations can usually be seen or smelled.”
NOT TRUE Mold does not have an odor... and not all large mold infestations are due to flooding. (which is what causes the BACTERIAL smell)
-— “You do not need to know the type of mold growing in your home, and CDC does not recommend or perform routine sampling for molds. No matter what type of mold is present, you should remove it. “
The type of mold pretty much tells ME (the inspector) WHERE it is most likely growing, and how much of a problem it is.
Most mold problems go undetected for very long periods of time until someone buys the property and has it tested, or when someone who is sensitive is exposed and has problems.
I’m not disagreeing with this... BUT....
Doctors usually don’t have a clue until they have exhausted all of their expensive lab tests options to diagnose it. When the doctors end up giving up trying to figure their problem out, they often ask “Have you had your home tested for mold?”
This is actually TRUE. MOST of the info on that page actually IS good.
The problem with most inspectors though is they are approaching mold inspection from a health-risk perspective.
It should be approached structurally.
I just want to find out where the primary sources of growth are so that it CAN BE removed.
Bingo - at least that seems to be the government's attitude. Years ago, I knew a vet who had swapped over to a civilian job with Uncle Sam. He had health problems, some of which were a result of service overseas - malaria, dengue fever, diabetes, and finally, a leprosy diagnosis from the VA. Dealing with all of that ain't easy, but the federal agency he worked at apparently thought it would be no big deal to stick him in a cubicle below a section of roof that had leaked - with black mold behind the furniture, on the cubicle walls, and under the carpet...
Contractors on post need a work order to fix things. It’s as bad as the way the county school system works.
Turn in a work order to fix a leaking faucet in the barracks and when he shows up to fix it you point out the faucet next to it is also leaking.
“You need to turn in a work order for it.” “You’re right here. You could fix it in a couple of minutes.” “Need a work order to fix something.”
There should be another article coming out about this tonight in the local (Fayetteville) news.
Just strap a dirty rag on your face you will be fine!!. Works for COVID so should do a great job on mold contamination.
This has been going on long before wokeness.
Yes it has.
