Ahead of the 20-year anniversary of 9/11, former President George W. Bush is looking back on the moment he found out that a second plane had hit the World Trade Center — and that an attack was underway in America.
In the new BBC documentary 9/11: Inside the President's War Room, Bush details the emotions he felt when he first learned about the attack on Sept. 11, 2001. His reaction was famously captured on camera during a previously scheduled school trip.
At the time, he was visiting Emma E. Booker Elementary in Sarasota, Florida, where he was reading to a room of young children when White House Chief of Staff Andy Card delivered the news.

The high water mark of his administration followed within the next few weeks. It was downhill from there.
It was a shinning example of the religion of peace.
One might say George continues to capitalize off of this tragedy. He shows up every year in a new documentary or news special, paints pictures of veterans from the wars he started and I’m sure generates outrageous speaking fees talking about his “leadership” experiences on 9/11. Maybe 20 years on, one of these documentaries could take him to task as to why this happened on his watch?
Hey GWB, don’t you and Hunter have to be in art class somewhere?
Yup. Soon in the 🚽
I was proud and remain so to have served under him as CiC.
A Sad anniversary thanks to Biden's botched w/d. I suppose we can all be reminded that the Islamic terrorists are still gunning for us and always will. Oh, and maybe it's not a good idea to provide them with 85 billion in technology and weaponry.
I thought it was calm under fire at the time, now I think it was deer in the headlights.
Yeah, GW II probably never should have been President. But I’m not sure if there was any better option at the time. I wonder what the world would have been like if a competent Republican had been elected on 2000.
Thank you for your service. Hard to argue with someone who served. I thought there was some sense in the armed forces that he approved very restrictive ROE’s. What do you think on that issue?
He was light years ahead of his two democrat opponents...that’s for sure.
I voted for this guy twice (and Poppy twice, as well), and 43 did some good things on taxes. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and he was a foreign and domestic policy disaster who set the stage for Obama-Biden and the national suicide that the left would ultimately implement. Stay out of the Bushes.
Bush did a lot right in the immediate aftermath off the attacks. Once his team had time to settle down and do some planning, things went in a different direction.
Why this happened on his watch? You agree with Michael Moore on this issue?
President Trump would have done a great job in the circumstances. I’d like to think he’d do what I always thought had to be done immediately after 9/11: drop a nuke on the last know location of OBL and then advise the world: any country harboring OBL or any other terrorists will face the same if the terrorists are not captured, executed or immediately turned over to American troops. This assumes that OBL was in a remote region so there wouldn’t be huge civilian casualties, but a message would be sent. I think that would have ended the War on Terror quickly.
He is a deep state operative, a bald faced lying actor, able to keep a straight face lying. He knew about 911 beforehand. The twin towers were a decoy... the target was building 7. Donald Rumsfeld announced on 9/10 $2.3T was missing. In the basement of building 7 were untold stores of physical gold. I bet it had NONE on 9/12.
Sound nutz? I challenge you to view the video of the 2nd grade classroom lesson being taught while he sat there. It was a reading lesson, sounding out words.
911 bush school kite plane must hit steel
Deer in the headlights? You agree with Michael Moore.
He was light years ahead of his two democrat opponents...that’s for sure.
No. I agree with Trump and it’s a logical question once you take politics out of it. If we have an incident under Biden, I think everyone here will be blaming Biden, and rightly so. I don’t think anyone will be blaming Trump.
