Not only is the United States still in the grip of a pandemic, but also the Delta variant of the coronavirus has led to record infections and deaths in Florida, Texas and other states with relatively low vaccination rates (and where officials have taken a stand against mitigation efforts).

The Delta variant can get you even if you aren't vaccinated.

Also, are deaths in Florida and Texas now really at a "record" rate compared to what they were earlier and in other states? Florida does have high death rates now because of the aged population, but Texas seems thrown in for political reasons.

I hardly think COVID is the reason for Biden's declining popularity. If anything, his supporters eat up stories about how red states and the unvaccinated are to blame.

No, it's Iraq, the border, inflation, shortages, small business closings, general incompetence, etc. etc. Bouie doesn't deal with most of these things and talks about political polarization instead, offering up a bizarre theory about how voting restrictions cheated the US out of getting a socialist government 120 years ago.
